As part of the pre-college prep, DS18 went through his clothes at my request. He found about 25 items that are: too small, have holes, he's never going to wear again, or are part of the "spirit week" stuff. I gave away almost all of it on Buy Nothing, and the rest go into my larger donation pile. I'm thrilled to get it all out of the house.

Next up is him going through all of his paper/school stuff and recycling & tossing everything!

I didn't personally make much progress, but the renter whose room needs to be cleared to be able to get in there for renovation work is making a dent. I haven't been watching the trash, but there are now several different sets of things in the pile where I told him to put stuff if he wanted me to figure out how to dispose of it. ("It" is a combination of empty toilet bowl cleaner bottles, some partially empty containers of over-the-counter medication, and some electronics that maybe still work, so there may be a hazardous waste drop-off errand in my future. That's okay. I'd rather have it out of here and properly disposed of.)

We have several boxes of stuff to give away lining our wall. I also sold some kitchen supplies and a pair of shoes.

DS found 2 trash bags worth of clothes to donate in his room.  Of these, several are ones his school required (certain color shirt for a field day, certain shirt for a concert the year he was in band, etc) which have only been worn once.  The waste drives me nuts.

Also, have three piles of books to either be sold (textbooks) or donated to little free library.

This is in addition to piles of paperwork, boxes, broken toys etc which he threw away.

His room is in much better shape and even he notes how nice it is to not be cluttered.

Been selling clutter at a flea market the last 4 weekends. Making barely enough to justify the wear and tear on the car, plus gas, lol. But getting rid of clutter in a way that I like.

Notable large item : Tiffany style hanging lamp. Had it on Facebook Marketplace forever, asking less than the other Tiffany lamps. Zero interest from anyone, lol. Sold to another vendor for $30.

A vendor was giving away her stuff for free at the end of the day, and I took 4 of her free items.  Had them on my table for an hour, then decided to give them away to another vendor, lol. That felt right.

@Josiecat22222 - we are living the same life, although dS18's room is still cluttered. It's a long journey for us!

I got rid of 4 workout shirts I don't wear. I work out a lot & need quite a few items, but I'm trimming back the "just in case" stuff, and holding on to the things I actually use regularly. It cleans up my drawers a bit, and makes it easier to find what I need, which is always a win.

Put a few things up for sale in our work "marketplace" thread and sold a couple things that I recently acquired for hosting an event. Managed to sell them for the same amount I bought them for (at a thrift store) and will happily move them along.

Also gifting away some dog puzzles which I had been given.

Convinced my elderly relative that their used exercise equipment - that has been outside in the weather for years - is okay to put into bulk trash.
It's curbside now and if the metal scrappers don't grab it then the City will when I arrange a pickup appointment.

A minor dent in the hoarding but it's still progress.

I offered up a bag of ladies work clothes and someone picked them up this evening so she and I both successfully avoided the thrift store!

Not strictly decluttered, but I'm counting it.

I borrowed a thing I only needed for a specific event. I used it for that event, cleaned it thoroughly, then returned it, and now I am no longer storing it.

The latest/next few things to leave the house are three different freebies that I didn't manage to avoid getting. I'm pleased to report they all have new homes, although a couple have yet to go to those homes.

Gave away a couple boxes of household items and a bag of clothes. We still have around 5 boxes of stuff outside our door. We will continue adding to it and host another give away next weekend. Anything that’s not taken will be put downstairs by the dumpster. I’m sure one of the workers in our compound will take it.

This thread has been helpful motivation.

We planned a donation pickup for several boxes of household goods, outgrown baby items, clothes, etc. I had an unused window AC unit that I donated to a co-worker, gave a relative an unused blender and cooler. The closet and basement decluttering continues...

I took a box from my sister's house to the op shop on Friday, adding a jersey and belt I don't wear to it. About to start another bag since I opened a cupboard and found a couple of vintage lightshades that didn't end up working for our house - back to the op shop from whence you came!

Now that graduation is done:
-Passing on the remaining graduation decorations I received on Buy Nothing a few years back
-Also listed two graduation sashes that DS18 ended up with after tennis senior night
-Two "congratulations" signs also posted on Buy Nothing, along with a logo'd high school bag DS18 received at graduation & doesn't want
-Finally, listed DS19's graduation gown on our school alias, to save someone else from having to buy it, but more importantly - reduce waste! Why does each kid have to buy these each year? It's nuts. I'll pass on DS18's as well, but want to double check he doesn't have any last picture requests in it, as graduation day was rushed.

Ah yes, the graduation gown...I actually have to wear mine once/year, when I go to the graduation as faculty, but if you can't get rid of it, it works well for a couple of different Halloween costumes: Judge Judy, Harry Potter (any character), could maybe make it work for a pregnant nun...

Or sew or fold the end under, put a belt around the waist, and add tights and it's a pretty good Renaissance royal.

I dropped off a handful of things today, bringing the total items for the year to 147. We did a little shopping today, but it's to replace stuff that's broken, so it's basically clutter-neutral.

I have more than enough people interested, luckily, so they will stay as grad gowns.

DS19's friend came over & picked up all of the camp uniforms we've collected (shirts & hoodies). The camp counselors are expected to wear them every day, but are only provided one shirt, and I don't think hoodies anymore. Neither of my teens are working there this summer, and we had six shirts/hoodies. DS19's friend is living on his own this summer, so not having to wash his uniform shirt every day is a big win. Plus, six items out of my house!
