Man, I haven't updated in 4 months.
We did an interesting thing in the last few months.
Bought a land next to a river toward the Gulf and bought a new camper and placed it there.
It was the cheapest way to have another place where we can get away for the weekend for peace and quiet.
It was fantastic and we were adding things and making progress until 2 hurricanes came and gone.
The camper were literally an inch away from hitting flood water. We were lucky, others were not.
Spent ~$100k for the land and the camper.

Rental       300,000- Paid off. Zillow has this house at $360k
Primary     253,561- Valued this house at $550k(Zillow $585k). Will sell for more.(LOL maybe)
$550k- minus selling fee and balance owed.
Assets        85,000-
Land          85,000- Land + camper. Spent $100k.
HSA           59,658
IRA-roth     172,776
IRA            127,623
Inx funds    213,131
401k          36,923
Wife 401k   120,190
Wife HSA    17,610
Wifes IRA    155,011
Cash          28,250
Etrade        29,458
Pension       30,120- I added this. Cash value of small pension I have.
Vanguard-   236,955 - Most are all CDs and MM all over 5% interests. Was thinking of moving some of this to some Index funds but I will leave it here as long as the interests are still over 5%.

$1,912,951 - Net Worth.
$1,659,390 - Without primary home.
$1,187,097- INVESTED.

Our goal has always been $1.5 million net worth.
People always talk about moving the goal post and I guess we are doing that too.
My wife wanted $2 millions last year when she started working again and I imagine we were going to get there end of 2026.
If the market just rise around 8% at the end of next year, we will hit at mark.
It's a bit crazy to think about how fast that was and we are on the conservative side.
70% SP500/ 30% CDs/MM.
No plan what so ever to join the $2 millions--> thread.

Included a pic of how close it got.
I actually moved the camper to the highest part of the land and jacked it up higher too or else water would have gotten in.
Water sat there for about 4 weeks and killed all the grass but it also got rid of all the ants.

Jan 31 2024.
Not much is new. Bracing for the tariffs.
Wife did get a transfer to a new department and she loves it.
It's 10x better than the old job and got a 12% raise.
She was going to work a couple of more years and call it quit but this job is a gift.
I told her my goal is to pay off the main house this house and call it quit. She can work as long as she wants.

Rental       300,000- Paid off. Zillow has this house at $360k
Primary     266,084- Valued this house at $550k(Zillow $585k). Will sell for more.(maybe LOL)
$550k- minus selling fee and balance owed.
I started paying down on this house. Rate will go up to 5.99% in Oct.
Still owe ~264k. I will use all my funds in the CDS to paid this down before the rates go
up. Still short about 30k so I'm working to paid that off.
Assets        85,000- 3 paid off cars. Some gold, other valuables.
Land          85,000- Land + camper. Spent $100k.
HSA           59,995
IRA-roth     173,322
IRA            128,282
Inx funds    216,481
401k          36,991
Wife 401k   100,623- This number was wrong on the last update(it was somewhere in the $80k. She just
got a nice 401k matching from last year.
Wife HSA    18,990
Wifes IRA    155,361
 Cash          32,041
Etrade        28,005
Pension       30,120- I added this. Cash value of small pension I have.
Vanguard-   229,536 - Most are all CDs and MM all over 5% interests. Was thinking of moving some of this to some Index funds but I will leave it here as long as the interests are still over 5%.

$1,935,755 - Net Worth.

$1,145,546- INVESTED.

I realize that my money is a source of comfort to me when facing anxiety.  When I'm having a lot of anxiety, I tend to consume more financial content and consciously/unconsciously remind myself of how well I'm doing.  I'm sure many on this site have similar experiences, but I wonder how it will affect me when I start withdrawing or have a bad year after stopping the firehose of cash.  2022 wasn't too bad, but if I hadn't been adding money the whole time it would have definitely looked a lot worse.

I hear you @Jaayse. My progress was always the thing I used to justify putting myself in an extremely anxiety inducing situation. Now that the fire hose of cash has been turned off in my home (Feb is my last high contribution month), I'm feeling pretty disturbed to think that the anxiety might remain in my life but the money definitely won't keep increasing at the same pace. Just slowing down on contributions feels like a slippery slope towards withdrawls.

I have similar experiences.  We have slowed down on contributions in 2024.  And then I mistakenly added an investment account twice when I changed from Mint to another tracking system, and somehow didn't discover that for several months.  So I "lost" 35k of the 'stache overnight.  The two circumstances combined have upped the $ anxiety this week.  Plus the Trump outlook is gloomy and volatile.

Hello - Currently 45 with a $1,733,193. Good possibility I could be at 2,208,793 at the end of the year based on some expensive and time-consuming real estate investments I have been working on the last four years.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

Turn 44 this year and it's been about two and half years since we hit the famous 1M mark. Weird how critical I have become even while pyling a lot of $$$ like never before.  A couple days ago we reached 1.5M mark again like we did at the beginning of 2022 before the big down turn.

Currently at about 1.6M and plan to be at 1.7 by the end of the year.  A couple more years and I can separate from my company.

Don’t cross those fingers, just keep using them to build things and the $$ can be there!

A big bonus and solid progress on the mortgage paydown (down to 5 figures!) more than offset the Trump selloff this month.

Lol January being a 5-paycheck month for me is the only reason our NW went up by a hair in February.  Just trucking along with lower savings.  Transferring some money from our local bank to Discover Savings for the high yield savings account.  (My family owns shares of the local bank, and I've had multiple generations of family members on the board, so I'm overly loyal to it.  But they cut our local branch and a lot of others, so now they've ticked me off.  Might as well go get real interest on our savings somewhere else.)

The table mode is medium annoying to set up but very easy to update every month once it's set up.

I'm assuming you've been withdrawing 4%, so is this all compounding? Or have you been living off of something else and/or adding to the stache?

Closer to 2%.......we're like MMM ninjas. But yes, all compounding/investment growth......now it's heading in the other direction AND our expenses are set to increase significantly over the next couple of years.

For those that hit 1M in the last few months, anyone else catching themselves trying to “guard the fortress” that is the 1M vs embracing the dip as they normally would? Ive been pilling more cash and still investing but not at the same clip I had been. During times like these it’s natural to wish you had a bit more cash/stable investments but I think this is heightened for me since hitting the big milestone and not wanting to lose that status, as silly as it sounds.
Hit 1M in October and was around 1.1M at market peak before pull back, havent looked at portfolio to see the carnage but I am enjoying telling my self that it would say that I havent lost posting rights to this forum. :)

I'm feeling the opposite, I wish we had more cash to invest right now.  This is the first year that we haven't frontloaded the IRAs and another work retirement account, due to some increased home maintenance costs, and it's mildly annoying.

I haven't been as aggressive with investing in my taxable account. These are not normal times. I've sent more cash to my savings account in case we finally get a recession and I get laid off. The job I have now will not provide any severance and I don't want to get stuck selling shares if the economy and stock market are both in the shitter simultaneously.

I am still contributing the max in my 401(k) and only sending more money to my taxable account if my allocation is getting out of whack.

Same, I fronted some cash for a family member and just sent some off to Vanguard, but I wish I had more available to take advantage of the sale.

01/31/25    $1,611,717
02/28/25    $1,629,474 - ATH on 02/19 at $1,644,598 (for posterity.)

I missed last month's update. I'm gonna go ahead and guess that this number is going to be my HWM for a long time.

A lot of *stuff* has happened since my last update, the most important being A NEW JOB! Finally! It's a lateral move from a financial perspective, maybe even a small step backwards for this year, but the upside opportunity is much better, and most importantly, the job itself is a lot better. There was also an emergency trip to France for family stuff, and a lot of time trying to get ready for the new job, using up all my benefits and buying work-appropriate clothes and makeup (lol).

I've shuffled a lot of money around too, due to.... *stuff*, and my head is spinning a little bit. Thankfully it's done now and I'm back to passively watching my portfolio auto-rebalance to my scheduled lower-risk AA without my input, and I'm ok with it.

I think we need a new thread due to Trumpenomics - how about "Race from $2M to $1M"?

This. I had just hit 2.0M net worth towards the end of last year but figured I'd be on a rollercoaster with the current administration so am staying right here in our nice group. (Plus the 2M+ people scare me a little.)

I just went and looked at the thread for the next NW level up out of curiosity.  Guys, they don't really post NW updates there.  It seems like ppl graduate from this thread and then NW updating is gone.  This won't be an issue for me for....lots of years, but I found it interesting.

Because money is like water, once you have enough coming from the tap you stop caring about excess.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
