March goals
« on: March 02, 2025, 11:12:25 AM »
I can't find one for March so I will start one :-)
Here are my goals for the month. A lot of it same as or builds on previous months.

  • Sleep more. At least seven hours at least four nights a week. As always :-)
  • Plan and track. I really need to do better.
  • Go to the gym eight times. At least four running and then add strength sessions. Shoudl be doable, but I need to plan for the weeks that kids are here, and I need to track.
  • Swim two times. One of them should be either the fancy pool just near my office or the pool on my way home from work. Once during each week the kids are not here.
  • Go for a walk for at least ten minutes every day. I really need to start walking more.
  • Yoga & stretching at least two times a week, at least ten minutes every day. For March, this means 9 sessions. This is another of the activities I need to plan and track.
  • Continue getting rid of stuff/sorting out the apartment. So much crap left. Coming week - no kids - Monday pull out all the stuff, Tuesday 15 minutes after class, Wednesday another 15 minutes after hanging out w/DS2, Thursday nothing, Friday take stuff to the dump at 11 am to avoid the queues. Saturday nothing and Sunday clean up before kids are back
  • Eat better. Start for March will be 73.6 kilograms. End at least one kilo less so want to end at 72.6 or lower. Log food on MFP when I don't have the kids here.
  • Discuss summer w/x, plan travel and plan the weekends w/the kids.
  • Start planning this years garden/plant some tomato and pepper seeds. Start w/the seeds that have germinated this coming week..
  • Admin/finances stuff: cancel the extra insurance, sort out internet, book car appointment. Find the darn libray book and return it + pay the fine. Book dinner w/A. Possibly some more.
  • Some Italian progress every day. Make sure I am aware of all the deadlines and be ready well before them - schedule in calendars.
  • Ikea: lamps for hallway, return the towel, buy more boxes if needed. Get a platic box for DS2.

I track with colors:
Green: completed
Blue: progress/on track
Orange: at risk/behind
Red: did not complete

I am still rocking with my goals of
1 - 10k steps a day
2 - weigh myself every day
3 - 100 pushups a day
4 - lift once a week

I have been good about everything, but 3. I have started working the pushups in with my runs so that helps.

Getting a late start, but doing well on them so far.  I'm going to set fewer/lower goals this month that I'm pretty sure I can hit, in hopes of building some more momentum that I can push forward for future months.

Work Related:
-Continue working on a five year plan
-Look at potential jobs at least once a week
-Apply to at least one more job-I applied to one this evening, so I'm not counting that

Creative:
-Start new embroidery projects-I really just need to get going, once I have a project started I tend to want to work on it consistently
-Play piano at least three times

Health:
   -Exercise at least three times
-Schedule at least one hangout with a friend, or at least try in case people are busy and no one can.
-Find an online course or something similar to take and start it

Household:
-Do at least one decluttering session in the basement
-Make all school lunches, no buying without planning in advance (pizza days)
-Do more than half (5/9) of the monthly chores, focusing on ones that haven't been done in a while
-Use up something from the freezer at least once a week.

Week 1 update. I also added two more goals.

Home:
- Declutter messiest kitchen cabinet - DONE
- Declutter hallway shelves - not started
- Declutter upstairs bathroom - not started
- Re-caulk living room windows - not started
- Clean all split unit filters -  not started

Pets:
- Take dog on 1 training walk per week (we're working to reduce his leash reactivity) - 1 walk done, on track
- Clip all pets' nails (2 dogs, 2 rabbits, 1 guinea pig) - 1 dog done
- Repair chicken coop where wood is rotted out - not started

Personal:
- Do at least 1 German lesson per day - 7/7, on track
- Walk 10k steps at least 24/31 days - 6/7, on track
- Finish two paper books - 1 book done, on track
- Reduce screen time 25% from February average - I can't figure out how to track this until I get my weekly screen time report tomorrow, but I don't think I'm quite meeting the goal. I set a daily goal on my phone so hopefully that will help.
- Make 0 Amazon purchases - on track

Belated week three update.  It didn't feel like it, but looking back this was a pretty good week, in terms of goals at least.

Work Related:
-Continue working on a five year plan-talked to my boss about new career idea, since it would involve her business, and she's super on board.  Next step, more research!
-Look at potential jobs at least once a week-did this several times
-Apply to at least one more job-didn't hear back from the one I was interested in, but I applied for another one, and I got an interview!
Creative:
-Start new embroidery projects-bought some new thread, though I don't count that as starting
-Play piano at least three times-twice so far

Health:
-Exercise at least three times-worked out and swam this weekend, so I met this one with 4 so far!
-Schedule at least one hangout with a friend, or at least try in case people are busy and no one can-planning to text a friend after I find out when my interview is
-Find an online course or something similar to take and start it-did one week's worth of the class

Household:
-Do at least one decluttering session in the basement-nope
-Make all school lunches, no buying without planning in advance (pizza days)-so far, so good, no misses, even though I really wanted to cheat one day
-Do more than half (5/9) of the monthly chores, focusing on ones that haven't been done in a while-still at two, need to catch up soon
-Use up something from the freezer at least once a week-still on track, used up some broth today

Work Related:
-Continue working on a five year plan-still working on the new idea, but it's still looking promising as a long term thing
-Look at potential jobs at least once a week-did this several times
-Apply to at least one more job-I interviewed and actually was offered the job!!  They said my resume was fantastic and I presented myself very well.  It might've been interesting, but the hours would've conflicted too much with the job I want to keep, so I turned it down.

Creative:
-Start new embroidery projects-can't seem to get moving on this one
-Play piano at least three times-only twice, unless you count while practicing to sing at church

Health:
-Exercise at least three times-took a long walk today, so got to 5!
-Schedule at least one hangout with a friend, or at least try in case people are busy and no one can-planning to text a friend after I find out when my interview is-Missed this one, but I did have regular social time anyways at book club.  Maybe counts?
-Find an online course or something similar to take and start it-did one week's worth of the class

Household:
-Do at least one decluttering session in the basement-nope
-Make all school lunches, no buying without planning in advance (pizza days)-made it!
-Do more than half (5/9) of the monthly chores, focusing on ones that haven't been done in a while-managed 4, better than last month, I think
-Use up something from the freezer at least once a week-Missed the last week, but still doing good overall
