mustache levels
« on: August 01, 2014, 10:21:13 AM »
Is there a post somewhere that outlines the posting levels on this forum?

I've been able to piece together a basic outline. Is there anything missing? Mods?

Stubble.....................1
Bristles....................50
Handlebar...............100
Magnum.................250
Senior Mustachian...500

I bet we could come up with a few more, too. How about: Teddy Roosevelt, French, and Fu Manchu?

Rollie Fingers pretty much had the ultimate 'stache.  That would be for, like, 100,000 posts.

Problem with Rollie Fingers is he was broke by the time he was done pitching. Good physical stash but poor financial Stash

It would be nice to get an icon for each stache level, instead of or in addition to the band of blocks.
I like the fu Manchu stache idea - Maybe for when you achieve FU money!

I suppose a Hitler stache is out of the question, though the little kitties with starches ("kitlers") are very cute.
Then there is the milk mustache -  maybe before stubble?
The John Waters stache?

Hah, I love the Star Wars ones.

Burt Reynolds and Chuck Norris also are good contenders.

Where I'm at now--"Bandito level":

Halfway to FI, I will crown myself "Gunslinger level":

Then onwards towards "Butcher":

Yeah, that isn't a high priority for the site admin, but knock yourself out brainstorming "What if..."  :)

At least implement dragoncar's suggestion. 10,000 = Rebel Spy. No one else is going to reach it anyway, so you'll have your own category. It would be pretty cool. Just sayin.

I propose the Lincoln for those with no stache:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1b/Abraham_Lincoln_November_1863.jpg

Very fitting: the average person believes that no stache is a fine situation, but really it's terrible; just as most people think Lincoln was great, but really he was terrible (suspending habeas corpus, being the bad guy and on the wrong side of the civil war, etc.)

Too political?

;)

Yeah, you know, the side that said "even though all of you want to start your own country, we're going to force you to stay a part of ours, and go in and kill you until you will."

EDIT: Also I'm going to move this to off topic.  My derailing aside, it's pretty much already there based on thread premise.  :)

Mustachian Rhapsody.......

Would anyone like to finish this? The song is too long lol. Tired and hungry and want to go to bed hehe.

Is this the real life
Is this just fantasy
Caught in my clown car
No escape from reality

Open your eyes
Look up at your stash and see

I'm just a poor boy
I have no dividends

Because my cash come in
then goes out
where it goes
I don't know

Anywhere the coins go
doesn't really matter to me, to me.

Mama, just blew my pay
Put a million bucks on red
should have invested it instead

Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away

Mama, oooooooo
Didn't mean to ask for more
If I can't support myself this time tomorrow, gimme more, gimme more
cos nothing really matters
.
.
.
Too late, my time has come
Sent dollars down the drain
Now I'm sleeping in the rain
Goodbye everybody, I've got to go
Gotta leave it all behind to face the truth

Mamma, oooo (anyway the stash blows)
I don't wanna die
Sometime wish I'd saved a bit more for old
.
.
.
.
I see a little stash of cash sitting idle
In the bank, In the bank, put it in a Van-guard fund!
Dividends and income, very very frightening.....

Hey mods! Admin types! What about all this? Can we get a few more mustache levels?

It is now feasible.

Feel free to suggest ideas.  Words that make sense preferred (Rather than having a random "Rollie Fingers" - cool as he was - under a bunch of people's usernames).

We aren't.

I'm asking for suggestions for the "level" under a person's username on the left of their posts that is based on post count.

Magnum

Maybe 5 o'clock shadow somewhere in there. Pencil thin. Fu manchu.

Why the sudden change of heart? Also, did you get a promotion or something? Red boxes and administrator. What did I miss?

Great ideas.  Keep em coming!

I needed to access some behind the scenes stuff to take care of stuff I couldn't as a mod, so now I can do these dinky things I couldn't before, that weren't enough to bother the real admins with, like changing post count titles, and locking out default avatars.

I LOVE 5 o'clock shadow for newbs. Put it somewhere below stubble. (Might have to bump stubble up a bit to make room for it?)

And I don't think there is anything more badass than Fu Manchu. According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fu_Manchu:
Quote
The character was also featured extensively in cinema, television, radio, comic strips and comic books for over 90 years, and has become an archetype of the evil criminal genius while lending the name to the Fu Manchu moustache.

Evil criminal genius. It's got to be at the top.

Magnum.................250
Senior Mustachian...500
Looks like there need to be a few more - 1000, 2500, 5000, 10000, 25000 (although there would only be 70 at 1000, 11 at 2500, none at 5000, and 1 at 10000).

How about:
Five o'clock shadow........1
Stubble.........................50
Bristles.........................100
Pencil...........................250
Handlebar.....................500
Magnum.......................1000
Senior Mustachian..........2500
Gandalf.........................5000
You're still here?.............10000
