I guess my question was more about timing.
The general view on this forum is to not time the market. If my crystal ball ever starts working, I'll let you know.
I wish I was layed off so I didn't have to work at a high stress job and get free ride to actually enjoy my life.
Quit your high stress job and get one you like. It's your choice to work it. Work in another field.
Most people who are laid off right now are pretty damn stressed. I know multiple families who have found themselves without heath insurance during a pandemic because COBRA costs are way too high, and they don't qualify to buy on the healthcare exchange. I don't know the families, but our local foodbank is seeing it's highest ever demands- many many people are struggling to get food onto a table. I don't think people who are laid off are universally "enjoying life."
Yeah, it would have been nice to get a government check, but I'm glad I wasn't in the position to need it.
