Close to retirement......invest in Vanguard?
« on: May 12, 2017, 11:42:23 AM »
My husband and I are only a year or two from retirement.  We are the "traditional" retirement age.  I recently sold some stock that we were talked into a few years back.  It hasn't done well (an understatement!), and by selling it, we will probably break even.

We have a comfortable amount of retirement savings, that we wouldn't need these funds to be available for 5 to 10 years.  We have no debt.  What to do??   I think we can afford to be a little aggressive with this money when/where we re-invest it.

I see a lot of talk on here about Vanguard Funds.  I've looked at a couple, one in particular being VTSAX.  So a couple questions:   Best way to invest approx $20,000 given our ages and other info  ??  A reasonable family of funds to look into??   Am I WAY off the mark looking at VTSAX?   Other funds/family of funds I should be researching ??

Our current investments are probably mid-rage with volatility.  And are slowing being changed into less volatile areas.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or thoughts.  Thanks.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
