Excited to be joining in this race. Total Passive Income from 2019 = $11,021.79 ($2,782.63 in Dividends and $8,239.16 in Gains)2019 was a very good year so I'm not sure how 2020 will compare.
This is a cool way to think about things.Do you have a way to deal with index fund dividends? Those don't really show up because it's just the fund value I think (at least with fidelity).

Bond funds are monthly and the equity funds are quarterly. I am only investing in Vanguard funds so other funds could be different. In my accounting software (GnuCash) I made a subcategory of Interest Income called "Dividends" so it makes it easy to separate from other income sources.

Feel free to track whatever you want in this thread. I'm just doing dividends as that is easy to calculate for me. Net profit from rental properties would be another good source. Change in investment balance could work but I imagine it will fluctuate a lot more and doesn't represent as well what you could spend passively from those investments. You could also consider some sort of estimate like 2-4% of your average investment balance over the last year.
I graduated the race to $10k a bit ago, so I'll join in!
Graduating myself off the 0-10K thread.

i have decided to graduate from the Passive Income to 10K thread .I am here to track my 3 children's Passive Income Journey to 40K per year...
This is a perfect challenge, so looking forward to it... Putting my FIRE plan's passive income goals into high gear first to cover our relatively low living expenses...2021 - 11K2022 - 21K 2023 - 42K goal (the number for 2024 is 72K which easily covers living for both of us; SO is still working to 2027 or so)Working this with a combination of income generating assets in the after-tax account for first 10 or so FIRE years before social security & Medicare kick in... In MLPs, REIT funds and Muni-bonds to more than cover living expenses... And a smaller % spread across Berkshire Hathaway B-shares, Vanguard S&P 500 index and a bit of international index to hedge vs. inflation and other surprises of life... Meanwhile, keeping all the IRA in growth for the middle stretch from mid-60s to early 80s. Here we go!
