I'm feeling confident that Musk is about to have a load of legal problems as people who orbit Trump usually do.
As @Travis said, Trump can't be touched apparently - but Musk surely can. Musk was handling data and doing things that he shouldn't have been during his 130 days if the law wants to see it that way. Not sure Trump would give Musk a pardon. Trump would prob use him as a whipping boy so Trump looks powerful to his MAGA folks.
Musk ought to get out the limelight and enjoy his billions of dollars quietly. Maybe isolate himself from the American legal system in whatever ways he can and just lessen his tax exposure the best he can.
Does he actually have billions of dollars though?
From what I understand, he has a heavily leveraged tower of cards supporting his wealth. This article discussed it well before this shit hit the fan:
"Musk’s financial empire is built on a delicate balance of stock valuations, debt leverage, and public confidence. If Tesla’s stock continues to plummet, it could trigger a margin call on the billions he has borrowed against it. If X continues its downward spiral, he will be left with a platform bleeding cash and burdened with billions in debt. If SpaceX loses key government contracts, its valuation could shrink, further destabilizing Musk’s portfolio.
Unlike most billionaires, Musk’s wealth is not stored in liquid assets—he is leveraged across multiple industries that rely on public trust, government partnerships, and consumer loyalty. A major downturn in any of these areas could create a domino effect that entirely wipes out his fortune. It is very likely that Mr. Musk continues to ride the wave of the current political climate and does really well financially with his companies. However, four years is not a long time if a new administration gets installed and does not like what Musk stands for...all the gains could be wiped out overnight"

I had a very good friend who was a billionaire, nowhere near Musk's level, but still a billionaire, who lost everything due to political fallout around one of the lynchpin companies of his heavily leveraged wealth construct. He's now worth a few million.
Musk owns a lot of specific stocks, but his wealth could be quite fragile.
