Ottawa -- Let's MMMeetup!

I'm OK for outside - and if the weather stinks - I'm also OK with a pub meetup.

ETA: I see that Britannia park has their washrooms closed.

If you prefer Andy Haydon park - I would recommend the Nepean Sailing club - if weather is nice - they have a great patio.  If not so nice, there is room indoors (and washrooms).

Something downtown would work too - as we have some people coming over from Gatineau.

Is it a go?  What time?  Shall we go downtown (and if so - where?) - Personally I think it is the most central location for everyone.

Food, Beverage, bathrooms, Parking, and it is open to the public.   Many boats will be put on the hard, so you may see a few large boats flying through the air on the crane.

I vote for downtown meet up and suggest the NAC as a location, being accessible by the LRT, OC Transport, STO and with cheap $1/hr (?) parking within walking distance at the City Hall or free on-street given the proposed meeting date (Oct 22) is a Sunday.

The NAC has many quiet and comfortable seating configurations not affected by performances and community activities. There is no obligation for consumption but there is a Happy Goat cafe onsite and you are actually encouraged to bring your own food and drink. There is even free WiFi if the gathering calls for it.

Traffic might be bad this weekend, as the Queensway is supposed to be closed from tonight until Tuesday, in the downtown area:

Just passing that along.  Not sure if we will make it, as I hate traffic that badly; stuck in too many jams when I was on the road for work, back in the day.  Weather is supposed to be cool (high of 7) and wet, so not ideal for biking if the forecast ends up being accurate.

When is the gathering envisioned for Sun please?

There is supposed to be a pro-Gaza (but apparently specifically pro-Palestian) gathering at Human Rights Monument on Elgin by the city hall at 2pm. Take caution of protest and counter-protest.

I think with a protest also going on in the core, Mr. Ed and I are definitely not going to go downtown.  Sorry to be a wet blanket; in ordinary times the NAC would be a perfect location for all the reasons listed.

It might not be a great weekend as it turns out to have a meetup anywhere - while the west end would work for me and Mr. Ed, lots of you come from other parts of the city and traffic has a history of going to hell the weekends that they do bridge replacements on the Queensway. 

Most of the participants of this thread have been very silent lately as well ... maybe some others can chime in and say if they are still planning on going if a suitable place is found or if this weekend is not working out for multiple reasons.

Good idea to postpone, we were out and about last night - the Queensway & related roads were a disaster!

Unfortunately I have other plans for the 5th.  I do hope that there is a great turnout though!
