Denver meetup?
« on: June 14, 2015, 10:06:48 PM »
I'd love to know if people in the Denver area would be interested in a meetup this summer! I figure there has to be a decent number of mustachians here. I assume it would be a small get together somewhere, but if enough people are interested, we could see about throwing a picnic or something in one of Denver's many lovely parks!

Let me know, as I'm dying to meet some of you!

Otto - My wife and I were just talking today about how great it would be if there were a Mustachian meetup in Denver this summer. We live downtown - would love to throw a frisbee and drink some beers with like minded Denverites. Sloan's Lake, Cheesman, Wash, City Park? Will keep an eye on this to see if enough interest is generated!

Awesome, that sounds like a great idea. I'm fine with anything, but I'd have to drive if it's somewhere other than Wash (Haven't got my bike from Boulder!) since I need to walk. Maybe if there were grills or someone brought 1+, we could have a cookout where we brag about the cheapest meat we bought ;)

Denverites ought to report in!

Now we're cooking with gas! (hehe) Or charcoal, or whatever is must mustachian and environmentally friendly lol. If we get enough people, and you brought it, that'd be a hell of a time.

Anybody know anything about reserving public parks, or is the general protocol simply "show up"?

We could hang this weekend if people are around!

If not, maybe we can target something in Mid July (18th?, 25th?) to give people enough time to clear calendars? We will be in the mountains the weekends of 6/27, 7/4, and 7/11. But if any of those dates work for everyone else, we're happy to join a different time!

Otto I think if the group is a reasonable size we can probably just show up. If it gets real big, we may have to do some research into reserving.

I know wash park has a no glass rule, so only plebeian cans of beer please! Also no need for reservations as far as I know, been to a few cookouts in WP with ~10-15 people and never had a problem

the REAL question is who has a volleyball net?!

What's a reasonable size? I have no real honest clue. 10 people?

Cool, if we get the grill I'm happy to chip in for food.

Any idea what our activities should be? Frisbee? Discussion? I'm new to this whole thing.

It would be fun to meet some locals! My hubs and 2 youngsters would love to join if it is going to be a family-type meetup. We are headed to the mtns this weekend, but early July would work well for us.

So should we aim to meet, say, Saturday or Sunday at 11? 12?

Or maybe wait until next weekend when we can have more Denver mustachians reporting in?

Hey Otto - We'd be down to hang Saturday around noon if that works. Sounds like it might be a smaller group this weekend. We will just plan on bringing a picnic, a couple of chairs, maybe a frisbee,  and plan to enjoy the warm weather and hang with any mustachians that can join! Then we can plan another date in July?

Sure, make it short and sweet, maybe hash out ways to live a little cheap and whine about things that cost too much!

Saturday at 12, Washington Park sounds good. Where in, though? It's a sizeable place.

Sounds good to me. So a final meetup details for all those who are interested (Everyone should show up!)

Saturday, June 20, at the SE corner of washington park (Louisiana and Gilpin)

Ah, me, too! We'd be up for something in July although we're in Broomfield. Would it be possible to head north a bit? (Not sure what the park situation is in North Denver, we have many lovely parks up here in and around Broomfield.)

How about we make a tentative plan for something like Saturday, July 18, so that perhaps Dumpster can make it if possible, and we can try and maybe throw a mini picnic or cookout and chat it up!

It was a lot of fun meeting with 4 others that frequent the site, and I can guarantee it'd be more fun the more people we had.

Don't plan around me - I work Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Not being able to attend a lot of social events is a small price to pay for having four days off a week!

I will be out of town on July 18th, so won't be able to attend this meetup, but just wanted to let you know that there is another Denverite interested in getting together. I know lack of interest/attendance has meant that meetups to fizzle out in other cities. I don't want that to be the case in Denver. I hope these keep happening. I am in Capitol Hill, so city parks work great for me. I will keep watching this thread for future plans.

Alright, I'll keep everyone posted, but if we could get a roll call for July 18, and I'll reply every time with an updated list, that would probably make it easier.

Also, please list if you can bring anything and if you'd like to request anything in particular!

Attendants:
1. OttoVonBisquick     (Can bring food depending on what everyone wants!)
2. Guizmo
3.

Sounds like we might have a handful of people, which is great! How about we keep this simple. Lets me at 2pm on the East side of the park where E. Tennessee Ave deadends into the park. Bring your favorite beverage, a snack to share, and a camp chair. If you own a frisbee or corn hole game set, bring that too. (We probably won't have enough people for volley ball.) I don't think the park allows glass containers, so keep that in mind.

I'll be wearing a white ball cap that says "Simms" on it and I have a brown beard. The more MMM's the better!

Great seeing everyone! For the woodworkers, the book I mentioned is The Handyman's Guide by Paul N. Hasluck. I think they sell it under a different name now, so do a search for his name.

The DVD is called the Naked Woodworker and is sold through Lostartpress.com. Don't worry, he wears clothes...

Hi all!

I'm new to Mustachianism and need inspiration and camaraderie on my way!  I live in Broomfield and wondered if any of you were interested in doing another meetup?  I notice there are a few Broomfielders on the Mustachian Google Map.  I added myself as well.  It's a nice midpoint between North Denver and Boulder along the 36 corridor.  Maybe folks in Louisville and Lafayette could join in as well?
Any interest?

Thanks!
