I work every other weekend but could do something like August 27-28 or September 10-11.

I like these two options!  Maybe a park on the north side of town, like Berkeley (convenient to I-70, has a dog park and a library branch)?  Looks like there is some interest from Broomfield and NE/NW suburbs.

I'm not much of a planner - I don't mind helping figure out when/where/what, nor would I mind posting details in this thread... but I'm not going to be organizing lawn games or bringing a ton of food.  I'm pretty darn pregnant right now.

I'd prefer toddler-nap-friendly times like 9:30 am (before midday nap) and 3:30 pm (after midday nap) but can be flexible.

Any other interest in late August/early September?

Berkeley sounds nice! It should only be maybe 20 minutes from me. And the times you mention are fine with me.

Besides my off weekends, which I named, FWIW I can also do any Sunday morning, because I don't work until later in the day, or any Saturday or Sunday at 5:30 PM.

I am pretty poor but I'm sure I could manage to throw in some hot dogs and/or homemade potato salad.

Who else is in?

We'd most likely be in too for either day last weekend in August.  At the moment the calendar is relatively clear so any time should work.

I'd be more likely to show on the 28th. I have a 1 1/2 year old, Dad works weekends so it would just be me and the little guy. Morning is probably better for us.

Thanks to those of you who posted!  It looks like there is a rough consensus to meet Sunday, August 28th at 9:30 am.  I didn't see any objections to Berkeley Park, so unless someone chimes in with a good reason to move elsewhere, we'll leave it at that.  It's at 46th and Sheridan, just off of I-70 and across the street from Lakeside Amusement Park.

Sounds great! I'm new to Denver and would love to meet some mustachians in the area. How should I know who to look for at the park?

Hi, Riptoast! I'll be there. I am not familiar with the park or how big it is--maybe CM can suggest a meeting place? In any case I am personally a thirtysomething 4'11" tall woman of medium coloring who will be wearing a large straw hat (if it is sunny) and accompanied by two small boys, ages 4 and 5.

Since we have settled on 9:30 AM, my previous offer to bring potato salad seems inappropriate. Breakfast picnic, anyone? Donuts? Scones?

It's kind of a big park.  I suggest we meet near the playground since there will be little ones present (I know mine will run off to the playground if we don't set up nearby, and then I'll never get to talk to anybody).  The playground is near the restrooms, too, on west side of the park - closer to Sheridan than Tennyson.

I'm a thirtysomething, 6' tall woman who is extremely pregnant (due in 4 weeks), and I'll have a 2 year old boy with me.  I'll probably have a navy blue blanket with swirls on it spread out somewhere.  I suggest bringing a chair or a blanket as I think the picnic facilities are further east, near the library.

There is parking near the rec center or all along 46th street.

My son and I will probably stay until 11:30 at the latest, but that doesn't mean other people can't stay later!  I'll bring some fruit and probably some other snacky stuff.

Hope to meet several of you!

This was fun! Special thanks to Cognitive Miser for suggesting a time and place and Cork for making guacamole right there at the park.

Hi all!

We had a good time meeting new faces :)   It was also a beautiful day to be in the park!   For those of you that couldn't make it,  you missed out on some fresh made guacamole!  Other conversation topics included federal employment,  real estate,  and trying to figure out the most "old man"  sounding name that would be funny to name a kid.

It was great fun meeting Riptoast and his lady, Cork, and FrugalParagon + her boys!
FP is as witty in real life as she is in writing.  Riptoast and his lady biked an hour to get to the park, and had interesting stories about living overseas.
And Cork's guacamole was truly stellar :)  He has quite the in-situ culinary skills!
What a lovely morning!

I'd be interested in the next Denver/Boulder area Meetup and would be happy to host an informal evening Happy Hour in the Highlands Neighborhood of Denver.

Mmmmm, that was good guac. I would be interested if the times work out for me and would be happy to bring... wine? Veggie tray?

Poop!  Managed to miss it.   Hopefully the next one is one we can get to nearby or when the weather warms again.  We have a lot of awesome folks in the metro area, and I need some ideas from you peeps!

I was hoping to organize something a bit more regular so I created a Meetup Group at Meetup.com this is the link:

It would be great to get a critical mass of denver metro folks and then I will schedule something to get things rolling.

Will you be posting the Meetup dates on this forum too, or just on that website? I don't know if I want to sign up for Meetup, but I'd be interested (I'm a new member living in eastern Denver).

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
