YNAB question
« on: January 21, 2015, 06:28:22 PM »
I recently signed up for the free 34 day trial of YNAB. I set up my budget using my daughter's Mac. I also have the app on my iphone. Supposedly I'm suppose to also be able to see the budget on my work computer (PC) also, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Do I have to download again on my PC?  Do I actually have to purchase YNAB before I can get it on both my mac and PC?  So far I really like the system, so I feel pretty certain I will purchase when my trial period is up- budgeting for the cost, of course!  And on that note, one more question...is it a one time fee or a once a year fee?

I purchased YNAB when you had to start on a pc so not sure on that question but it is a one time price. I have used it now for several years and I have it on my pc, IPad and phone but not sure how the free trial works. I love it and it has helped me pay off 43,000 in CC dept March will be my last payment took 2.5 years.

Have you downloaded dropbox? That's how the two will communicate.

One time fee for this version of the program.  Whenever they release version 5, you will need to buy it again if you want all of the new bells and whistles they put into that version.  I won't be buying it as the current version does everything I want it to.

And, yes, you will need Dropbox installed to share the budget files between the different devices.

From the YNAB website:

For PC and Mac
YNAB runs on Windows or Mac and you can sync in-between. PC at work and Mac at home? One license is all you need.

So, yes, you can sync between PC and Mac. You will need to download the app on your PC and input your "activation key". I'm not sure if you have one with the free trial, but definitely once you buy a license you will have it. Like others said, it will sync to your phone, PC, and Mac through Dropbox so make sure that is set up too.

One more thing, it looks like it's easier to install on both PC and Mac if you buy it through the YNAB website rather than the Apple Store. So keep that in mind.

Good luck! YNAB totally changed the way I look at my finances and I really can't recommend it enough!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
