My wife and I were self employed for 18 years.
Open 7 days a week, 10 hrs a day, but there was at least 12 hrs of work per day. Always on call, never took vacations, took off 1 or two days only a few times for special occasions.
Often started at 6:30am and not done until after 6pm, especially in the winter.
Over all, the job was easy, with lots of free time, but I could leave the area, in case we had a customer.
I just got tired of having a schedule to keep and not having any time to do as I pleased.
Tired of my life being the business.
We did retire after hurricane Michael, have sold almost all of the business assets.
Now, if I can just finish a few more house repairs. :-)
