Ladystache Equivalent?
« on: January 12, 2015, 11:15:49 AM »
So I'm a little disappointed that there isn't any discussion (unless I missed it, and if so, please kindly direct me) of a physical measurement of commitment for the ladies. It's nice to see the different mustache avatars but I'm feeling left out. I do have a few errant chin hairs that due to societal standards get plucked out regularly, but biology precludes me from growing the mustache I feel I should have in my heart.

Note: I've been a semi long time reader of the blog and only recently started reading through the forum, and based on what I've read so far I feel moved to add an encouragement to keep it classy.

I'm not sure what you're asking?
Are you referring to the post tracking (stubble, handlebar)?
If so, this has been discussed here:
http://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/off-topic/lady-mustaches-do-we-need-something-more-appropriate/msg324920/#msg324920

It didn't seem very popular with the ones that chimed in, including me.  I see no reason to divide the sexes - we seem to be getting along just fine.  I am quite proud of my virtual mustache.

Or are you referring to adding topics that are directed towards female Mustachians?

The only "measure of commitment" any of us should be worrying about is our personal savings rate :)

Rezdent, it was a tongue-in-cheek topic referring specifically to some of the avatar photos I've seen around the blog/forum with male users and their mustaches, but thank you for the link! Glad it was discussed at some point. I think I could get on the stache wagon as well (even though it's still a little disconcerting to see the "stubble" status next to my name). Yes, it appears from the post you linked that the stache is popular with both the guys and the girls.

Adventine, GREAT answer :)

I love symbolic visuals and affirmations and if I were able to I would totally grow a mustache to mark my journey towards FI. Ah well, if I can't grow a mustache, maybe I'll plant a money tree (pachira) instead. At least it will be good for the environment.

Ah, the avatars that members load for themselves, now I understand. I don't use one but sometimes I am amused by the ones I see.
