I really don't agree. My happiness or lack thereof has little or nothing to do with my job at the present. Of course, I would prefer to have passive income and not have to work. But I do actually enjoy what I do. I'm lucky in that I have skills developed over years of hobby work (computers/programming) that happen to be in high demand with good future employment projections, so my income will likely increase or remain stable over time. There are a lot of things I hate about working in a company, a lot of stress and pressure from the company, but the work itself is at least interesting to me. The times when work has been miserable were times when I wasn't learning anything. As long as I get to keep doing interesting, challenging work and my work continues to be fairly compensated, I don't find that working negatively impacts my happiness all that much. I would like to be my own boss someday, hopefully soon, but I doubt that I would be significantly happier if I did nothing but watch TV Monday through Friday.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
