There's nothing better to eat that hamburger when we don't feel like cooking but... I'm looking at the prices of chicken sandwiches and you?

Leftovers.  Stocking some precooked ingredients lowers the bar to whipping up a quick homemade meal when you are feeling lazy.  Some seasoned beans, cooked brown rice, and some precooked chicken can quickly make a burrito, or a protein bowl.

Anymore I find it interminable to drive, order, wait, and drive again just to pay to pawn off my laziness on some poor soul.  Fast food still takes at least a half hour to get on the table.

In-n-out. Calories aren't completely out of this world for a burger. Price is fair. Employees are paid well. Hard to beat it as a favorite, honestly. Like I can't even think of anything I'd consider even 2nd place. It's that sure for me. And it tastes good. Have I had better tasting "things," maybe, but In-n-out is the closest thing to a sure thing for me.

It must have been too long since I went to a fast food place. What’s going on with the price of a chicken sandwich vs hamburger?

Fast food for the win!! Maybe my stache isn't filled out enough but I think fast food can be a great option. We have fun family nights where we go order cheap "dollar menu" style stuff, take it to a park and play outside. You can have dinner, way too many calories and a fun venue for $20. Sit down restaurant, you'll be hurried in, hurried out, and leave at 2-3x the cost and the food many times is just as unhealthy as fast food... I've worked in restaurants during school and while we were establishing our business- most places use the same bulk supplier quality food, none of it is actually that nutritious be it a sit down or fast food.

Yeah, I live across the street from a restaurant with ~$18-$28 entrees (and one OTT $38 "Chilean sea bass" entree) and once a week they have a Sysco 18-wheeler truck pull up out front to make a food delivery. Only the best quality, I'm sure... LOL.

For bonus jackass points, the trucks block the bus stop/bike lane every week when they make deliveries.

I’m honestly not fond of fast food, so only eat it on road trips - Taco Bell is better than average and one of the few places with a vegetarian option that isn’t a bean burger. LOL And Culver’s is pretty decent.

We do this at home. I batch cook beef and rice then freeze meal-size portions. I use cabbage because it lasts longer. Use a Mandiline for fine shreds. Add in chopped fresh jalapeño and cilantro, add some cumin and coriander, then squeeze fresh lime juice on top. Shake it up and store in the fridge for 3-4 days. Whether we're having tacos, bowls, burritos etc, it only takes a few minutes to pull everything together. I can have it on the tablet faster than I can get to a restaurant. My humans would happily eat this eight days a week.

Prices are changing every time there is an increase in inflation, that is, they are getting more and more expensive...

Language barrier I suppose. I thought you were trying to make some comparison of beef versus chicken price inflation.

Taco Bell is the only fast food I ever really crave. Luckily, there’s one a 6-minute drive away and it’s cheap. Something about all the salt and crunch… I make a lot of homemade tacos but in a very different style. Sometimes you just need the junk food. :)

I’m much more likely to order takeout from an amazing Thai restaurant nearby. It’s insanely good and a decent value. If I wasn’t already retired, I’d work longer just so I could order this Thai food. I probably order every two weeks or so.

We generally only eat at Culvers or Taco Bell when out as a family. Gluten free options can be found at both and the kids will never turn down frozen custard.

But I CRAVE take out Chinese on a regular basis. Only give in a couple times a year but I could eat Chinese food for every meal. Thankfully we have a great local place and I make my own extra rice at home so I can stretch that $15 entree into 3 meals for me.

Whichever food truck is parked outside the brewery.  The Poke truck is amazing.

Except the Grilled Cheese food truck.  Those guys charge $9 for american cheddar and white bread.  Insanity!

Probably, but I don't see a reason to report it until there's something particularly suspicious happening.  I suppose they might post on more threads in the future to get themselves over the 3 or 5 post hurdle.  I also haven't tried clicking the link on bettymoon's posting either.

edited to add--- both accounts were created on the same day, with cartoon avatars on the profile display, so that is suspicious.

Taco Bell, until they got rid of the Mexican Pizza.  Dead to me, now.

In-N-Out, if I'm living in a place that has them, which I'm not.  Likewise, all of the cheap but amazing fast Mexican food joints in SoCal, most of which end in "-berto's"  Alberto's, Humberto's, Roberto's.  God I miss great, cheap Mexican (NOT 'tex-mex') food.

Of the remaining options, I guess I'd choose Arby's.  Oh, and McDonald's on the very, very, very rare occasion I'd be in the market for a fast food breakfast.

OK, I'll play. I don't eat fast food that often but I do when traveling or on vacation. And really, anything other than fried chicken tastes good to me. The kids discovered Cook out, and so when I have them, I have gone a couple times since summer vacation let out, as a treat. Their multi berry shake is 1K calories and the bomb.

I did the face punch worthy item of eating out at a very expensive restaurant this week, including an appetizer and dessert and fancy drink to treat my friend for her b-day. In my defense, she is going through cancer treatment, doesn't have much of an appetite and has lost quite a bit of weight. I just wanted to do something really nice for her. So yes in the past week I have done the equivalent or ordering the Chilean sea bass.

Perhaps because they live in an area without an actual taqueria.  Also, I don't even consider them the same food type, really.  Sure, they both have "taco" in the name of the dish, but that's akin to comparing a garden salad to a jello salad.  Both have "salad" in the name, but they are entirely different foods.

Leftovers.

If no leftovers, then fresh fruit. Eggs are also super easy to make and very fast, and healthy, and cost-efficient.

It's also amazingly easy to make your own frozen burritos, pizza, dumplings, soup, etc., all of which can be frozen and reheated quickly for a fast, cost-effective, and healthy food option.

McDonalds is my go-to fast food I get when I'm traveling/on the road and need a quick meal. If I just want a lazy/minimal cooking night from home and don't have leftovers, I try to keep some quick frozen options on hand (frozen fish, frozen veggies, etc.) or pick up something premade from the grocery/convenience store (take & bake pizza, sushi, heat & serve chicken, etc.).

My spouse and I went to a Taco Bell a few years ago (pre-pandemic).  I was absolutely appalled at the quality and price of what we received. That was the first time I had eaten Taco Bell in over a decade.

I don't know if my tastes changed, or if the quality went down, or if the restaurant we hit was just having a "bad day".  But what we got was NOT reminiscent of what I remembered getting from Taco Bell as a college student in the mid-00s.

Never again.

There are 3 Taco Bells within a few miles of where I work. There is a noticeable difference in what you receive between each location. I imagine all of the ingredients come from the same truck, but the way they are prepared and then turned into meal is a huge variable. The location across from the college campus gets the most business and has the best tasting food. My guess is that the food is always freshly cooked and hasn't dried out. Also, they've had the same core group of employees for years so you're not typically getting food made by a trainee.

A Little Caesar's pizza is under $7, readily available, and makes the kid happy. It used to last for several meals, kid is now eating at least 1/2 of one by himself because he is an absolute unit.
