I've left the clock in my car unchanged after daylight savings, and left it so long that it was finally correct again after daylight savings ended.

I'm in that mode now, well, plus three minutes ahead. Spring is just ahead.
Hakuna Matata!
I started out doing this out of laziness but now I get the added bonus of annoying dw it's a win win.

I used to have a glass of milk with every meal. Instead of cleaning the glass after breakfast, I would simply put it in the fridge to keep it cold till dinner.

Instead of putting something in the microwave for 3:30... just put it in for 3:33

I do this all the time.

55 instead of 1:00

I bought an extra pack of underwear so now I have enough so I can go three weeks without washing a load of underwear. I also wear work blouses usually three times before washing, use towels for two weeks, etc. Some weeks I don't even need to do a load of laundry. Love it when that happens.

I also re-use dishes, eat sandwiches off a piece of paper towel and will eat leftovers out of the container. I only need to run the dishwasher every one or two weeks.

In the summer I don't water the back lawn, so it doesn't grow if it doesn't rain. Last year I think I cut it once. I do take better care of the front lawn.

A co-worker with no car once ordered a pizza from a place 3 blocks away that didn't offer delivery (he was going to walk to get it). Then he got lazy and called a cab to drive him to pick up the pizza.

Oh, this is easy, and I see it all the time. Fatmobiles. When I see obese but otherwise healthy people ooze into one of these carts to drive themselves around a grocery store to get their Pringles and Coca-Cola, it is jaw-dropping.

Especially if they are consuming said Pringles and Coke while riding around.

Personally, I try for compassion when I see someone who can no longer walk. It's always hard to witness someone continuing the destructive behaviour that's ruining their lives, but morbid obesity is usually a sign of some pretty heavy mental pain. Why bother adding just a little more shame to their lives?

In college we didn't have a bathroom on the 2nd floor...we peed out the windows a lot...one of my classmates (a girl) dropped me off at my house after class one day and said "that's your house...we were driving by the other night and there were 2 pee streams flowing out the windows."  Guess my roomates peed out the window too!

My roomate used to yell at me all the time to do my dishes in college, after each meal, and I would say "I'll do them when I get back" or "I'll do them in a couple days and do them all at once" (efficient)...well he would nag me non stop, so I started hiding my dirty dishes in the oven...which worked well for a couple weeks till he went to preheat the oven and almost burned our house down (plastic Walmart dishware).

My lazy/resourceful/efficient college days are behind me...I think.

I said nothing directly to the person, just saw them across the store and it stunned me into the remark.  I know very well that fat people know they're fat.

My BIL has a joke about male boxers (underwear). You wear it for two days then turn it around for two days; then turn it inside out for two days then turn it around for two days. lol. 8 days total.

Really my pet peeve is people not returning their grocery carts to the stall or the front of stores. They just leave them in the parking spot next to their car. I think WTF!!! When I backpacked Europe all the carts are connected by chain links and you need to insert a coin to release a cart. When you return the cart you get your coin back. Seems like a simple solution but nobody does it, at least not in the western US. You also had to pay for plastic bags so most people brought their own.

Laziness is institutionalized in our household. If anyone is sitting on the couch & a cat is on their lap, they are allowed to ask for things to be brought to them, lights switched on/off etc.  Just have to invoke the magic phrase "I have C. O. L." (Cat on Lap).  Then whoever else is there is compelled to bring them a glass of water or whatever.  Can't disturb the cats!

Also, once I really pissed off my DH.  We have a rule that we are not allowed to shout across the house & have a conversation that way.  Whoever wants to initiate the conversation must move to wherever the other one is & speak in at a normal volume. I wanted to talk to him one time but was too lazy to get up.  So I called his cell phone from my cell phone.  I don't know why this made him so mad...I was following the rule of not yelling...

I was once in bed at 11pm on a weeknight, and my teenager was downstairs in the family room playing video games.  I was exhausted and falling asleep, but if I fell asleep, there was a chance the kid would stay up way too late.  So I picked up my phone, called him, and told him to go to bed.

Client:  "Can you send me x (federal/state and widely available) form please?"
Me:  type "x form" in google and send them the pdf link that is the first result.  Less time than it took for them to type the e-mail.

Sadly, that's happened more times than I can count.

Yeah, but it isn't worth the quarter, or whatever, for people to bother returning them, so there are still carts all over the parking lot.

I've actually noticed a number of local grocery stores now have cart returns every 5 spaces or so.  It does result in more carts getting corralled, but man, there are way fewer spaces now!

My father built a little pop-up flag on his mailbox so he would know if the door was opened and he had mail delivered.  Why walk the 50' from the front door (in Florida) if no mail had come that day?  He also hung shirts on the curtain rod in the living room, to save walking all the way to the master bedroom.

I also managed my clothing supply in college so I had a months supply of everything, since there were a bunch of machines in the laundry building, it was just as fast to do 4 loads at once as 1.  IMHO that is just efficient, though.  I have also done the "pick up the empty garbage can from the car window and drive it back down the driveway" thing, but the driveway was long, and steep. . .

I have two roomates and about two years ago we discovered we had lost the keys to the front door... all three of us. Instead of getting a new lock, we just have not locked the front door of the house for two years.

Right? I got the idea from my sister, who would IM with her DH across the house. Seems logical and efficient to me; not sure why he got so mad.

Sounds more like something fun to build than total laziness.

As far as my laziness goes I started looking into setting up a home network so I could use remote desktop to my big computer from my netbook while in the living room but it looked to involved.  So laziness fighting laziness.

My dorm roommate in college and I used to IM each other.  I'm pretty sure our room was small enough we could have leaned back in our chairs, stretched our arms our and touched hands.  SOMETIMES we'd do this because one of us had headphones on, but not always.

Now that you mention it, my sister's husband is a musician & often plays/records with headphones on & hooked up to the computer, so for that situation it does make perfect sense.

Others: We have a supplier that is located about a block away from our office. When we need to go there for machine trials, I always walk. I have a particularly annoying coworker that climbed his fat ass up into his F-250 to drive the one block to the supplier on a beautiful sunny 60 degree day. The worst part? We left at the same time but with the time it took him to walk to his truck, get situated and moving, and get parked I was in the supplier's office before him walking at a leisure pace.

Myself: I rigged up pull strings to turn the bedroom light on/off from my bed so I didn't have to get up to turn it off at night / on in the middle of the night. Kind of lazy, but also significantly reduces the risk of stubbed toes.

did not change the mp3 cd in my car for many many years....know exactly the order of the songs by heart
if I hear any of the songs from that album now at a bar or friends place or someone else's car,
At the end of that song, my brain automatically expects the next song from that cd

When I was a 16 or so, my mom had a white mini-van that would show dirt terribly.  One time it was particularly bad, maybe after a snow or something. So, without her asking, I started to wash it.  Only problem was the hose was too short to wash the passenger side, and I would have had to disconnect the hose from the back of the house, drag it around and reconnect it to the hose I was using to reach.  I didn't.  She didn't notice for weeks (maybe months?) seeing as she always drove and it had a driver side sliding door where most of the groceries were loaded.

Last week, for the first time ever, I raked  leaves into the street for the street sweeper to sweep up.

I had seen other neighbors do this, but I think it's lazy.

This year I did it. And for one day, and before the rest of the leaves dropped, my side of the street was clean and neat.

So report me to the lazy police.

In college, I used to live on the second floor with a window that overlooked the alley where our trash was kept.  We used to just leave the dumpster open, and drop our bag from the window into the dumpster so to not have to go down the stairs.

In college, I would go several weeks, sometimes months without taking out the trash because the dumpster was about a block away and I didn't want to make the walk. If I had had your option, I probably wouldn't have even used my trash can and would have just tossed things out the window to save a step haha.

One of our smoke alarms started beeping last night.  I was too lazy to find a step ladder and a battery and replace it (normally DH's job--he's out of town but due back tonight).  So I brought a fan into my room, turned it on full blast, plus put an iPad on white noise at full volume to drown out the damned intermittent beeping so I could sleep.

P.S.  I did actually find the step ladder and battery and replace it this morning, because it was seriously stressing out one of my dogs.  There is, apparently, a limit to my laziness and I'm glad it ends at animals suffering.

My neighbor is a bit of a legend for his ability to get around to cleaning up the Christmas décor, including lights and yard art, sometime the following summer.

His best performance however is clearly his rural delivery mail box. It was killed by a snow plow, about six years back. Not wanting to do anything hasty, or invest a lot of cash,  he carefully reassembled the upper portion of the post with a bungee cord, and built a hilarious rock and stick cairn to support the entire mess. From a distance it looks like a miniature teepee frame, filled with rocks, with a mail box precariously perched on the peak. The poor rural mail delivery lady spent the next six years suffering through the daily Jenga game like effort of not toppling the mess as she loaded the box. Regrettably, he recently submitted to a combination of spousal nagging and neighbor abuse, and finally spent eight bucks for a new post, and half an hour to install it. Sad to see this ( lack of) performance art exhibit finally close.

I've just remembered one from about 6 or 7 years ago based on the smoke alarm one. I had a mobile phone which would beep pathetically as it battery drained to zero. I was sitting on the couch surfing the internet and did not want to get up and plug it in. So I just found some music on my laptop and played it loud enough to drown it out.

Right? I got the idea from my sister, who would IM with her DH across the house. Seems logical and efficient to me; not sure why he got so mad.

My dorm roommate in college and I used to IM each other.  I'm pretty sure our room was small enough we could have leaned back in our chairs, stretched our arms our and touched hands.  SOMETIMES we'd do this because one of us had headphones on, but not always.

Hell, I was doing this with my (now) wife in 1992 in the computer lab at college. Even when sitting next to each other.

I've called my husband in from the other room to "give me a kiss before bed" after I finished reading for the night, because I was too lazy/cozy in bed to get up and turn the light off.

I've done this, too. <hangs head in shame>

My husband and I like to play the "Wait" game. During a meal when we run out of beverage, we usually wait to see who's the first one to give in and get up for a refill. The other person then does the "since you're up" routine to get his/her glass filled. We've gone full meals without refills because neither one of us wants to get up.

I was living on my own and had saved up the dirty dishes in my room for a about a week. The landlord came by to inspect if the house was being properly cleaned. I put all the dirty dishes in the bottom of my closet just before the inspection. I left them there for another couple of days.

Instead of putting something in the microwave for 3:30... just put it in for 3:33
+1
I do this all the time.  And on our microwave I can even use 88 seconds in place of 1:28.  I feel so clever having saved an entire digit.

In college, I used to live on the second floor with a window that overlooked the alley where our trash was kept.  We used to just leave the dumpster open, and drop our bag from the window into the dumpster so to not have to go down the stairs.

That's not lazy. That's just plain smart.

Also, to prove I haven't changed since childhood. Babytooth sleeps in our room and needs two bottles overnight. Rather than getting out of bed and walking across the apartment to retrieve the bottles at 2 and 5 am, I bought a $20 micro fridge off Craigslist and stuck it on my nightstand. I can now get the baby a bottle without getting out of bed and it's awesome.

LOL! I decided my daughter could jolly well learn to drink room temp formula. So I had powdered formula (pre-measured in an awesome little container). Before going to bed, I'd fill the bottle with the correct amount of water. In the middle of the night, all I would have to do was dump the powder into the bottle, shake it up, and hand it over. (my DD was between 10 and 18 months old at this point so not sure if I would have done it differently for a younger baby. Probably not though LOL!)

My daughter drinks all temperatures of formula, thankfully. I've done mixing up formula on the bedside before, but my vision is poor and I'm clumsy, and I kept accidentally spilling powder.

Now I just need to train the baby to open the fridge herself and I'll really be in business.

I was too lazy and cheap to buy formula, sterilize bottles, remember where they are when leaving house, etc so I nursed tll they were 2 yo. Way easier than bottles IMO.

We were cleaning our house just before a few friends were coming over for drinks. Small house, wood floors, so I was in charge of sweeping the floors. I opted to skip the dustpan and just sweep the pile down the basement steps. Unfinished basement, open wooden steps, no biggie. Unfortunately my wife didn't like it, so that was the last time I got away with that one.

The OP's story had me laughing out loud.

OK, so, I'm not generally a lazy guy. I work hard, I play hard.

My weekends often look like "Ray Liotta in Goodfellas" (minus anything illegal!) and I get "all the things" done in epic 20 stop days: cook breakfast, coffee to go, groceries, hardware store, cook lunch, DIY reno, big box store for (insert hobby here) supplies, back home to finish DIY, cook dinner and food for next week blah blah blah.

When I choose to be "off," I am OFF and feel NO GUILT about it. Here's one:

Sitting on the couch, laptop next to me, surfing the web, Netflix on the TV across the room. From time to time, Netflix pauses in the middle of a show and asks "are you still watching...?"

...

YES, I'M DAMN WELL WATCHING AND I DON'T WANT TO GET UP TO GET THE REMOTE ON THE OTTOMAN 4 FEET AWAY.

So, I grab my smartphone (which is right next to me), fire up the SmartTV app, tell it to connect, use it to position the mouse cursor on the TV to "YES" and click that to get Netflix playing again.

It probably takes me 10 or 20 seconds to do that and just getting up for the remote would have taken 5 seconds... but then, I'd have to get up.

/once uttered out loud "seriously, fuck me" in the White Oak Village Martin's seeing someone drooping all over the scooter shoveling Doritos into its mouth and chugging a Big Gulp as the scooter blasted down the middle of the aisle

//should have taken pictures

///seriously, fuck me

////hybrid knows what I'm talking about

Personally, I try for compassion when I see someone who can no longer walk. It's always hard to witness someone continuing the destructive behaviour that's ruining their lives, but morbid obesity is usually a sign of some pretty heavy mental pain. Why bother adding just a little more shame to their lives?

I said nothing directly to the person, just saw them across the store and it stunned me into the remark.  I know very well that fat people know they're fat.

Maybe so, but you still just referred to a person as "it." May I politely suggest recalibrating your compassion meter?

Also imo: do people  who are idiots and spend their money on new cars and bullshit consumerist things require your compassion/understanding when they 'can't pay their bills'? personally I'd say no. How is watching someone who 'needs' help moving while simultaneously stuffing junk into their gaping maw worthy of sympathy?
