What is the inspiration behind your forum name?

What is the inspiration behind your forum name?

I had never posted to an online forum before. So I picked ForuMMM to signify the inspiration for my joining the MMM Forum.

What about you?

Bernard of Chartres used to compare us to [puny] dwarfs perched on the shoulders of giants. He pointed out that we see more and farther than our predecessors, not because we have keener vision or greater height, but because we are lifted up and borne aloft on their gigantic stature.

I have one nickname that I've been using for many years. It was time for a change, so I decided to fetch a new nickname from an online generator of Elf's names :)

I've had this username since I was at university and I opened my Hotmail account. It's the name of a comic book series that I was into at the time:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerebus_the_Aardvark

I went back and re-read the whole thing a few years ago and it holds up very well, at least the good part of it - after the first few years and before the last few.

I've called myself this or variations thereof on forums since about 2006.

I used to an avid ketchup user.  I've since mellowed out.  I think I have consumed less than one bottle in the past year.

A nickname I was given early on in my career, one of my coworkers thought that I was very similar to the brother-in-law on the tv show Chuck, guess it stuck.

Proud of my southern heritage.  I would like to be able to display the confederate flag and american flag, but people get the wrong idea.  The confederate flag has become all about race, but I am NOT racist at all.

Though in real life I can grow a pretty incredible beard/mustache, in my financial life I am limited by these darn student loans.  I started from the bottom ($120k in 2011) now I'm here ($80k).  I will get there, eventually.  Unsure what I will do with my name when I do.

The realization of how stupidly fast your 'stache can grow once it finally clicks in your brain that you can be retired decades before everyone you know. 14% employer match to my 2%, along with a 2016 plan of maxing out both a 457b and 403b ...and the DW 5% employer match and 401k maxed.....and maybe 11k to a couple of IRAs if we can swing it too!

I joined in May, retired in August, so 2 years here and almost 2 years retired.  Life is good.  I don't think of myself as an "old retired lady" but as "a woman of independent means".  Anyone who looks at CEGEP salaries knows I didn't make big money while I was working, but this forum gives anyone the tools to have a good life on a not huge income.  Not to mention that having a community of kindred spirits is very empowering in this consumer-driven society.

Ma vie, c'est incroyable.

bike528 is from my first motorcycle racing plate number with WMMRA..
chosen because the actual dispacement was 528 cc, a minor protest of being classed as a600cc bike.
CBX because I have one.

Bam=my initials.

I usually find that another BamBam has already signed up, so I go in with that assumption and add the 100.

I was going to call myself Chapter8, to celebrate my staus as a recovering Chapter 7. But I was talking while signing up so I forgot it in the distraction.

When I was very young, my parents went on a motorcycle trip west and traveled along the Mississippi River.  They brought back souvenirs for my sister and I - two little bears to go with our stuffed animal collections.  Mine was named Cezil.  The "ous" at the end was my young interpretation of making it sound awesome: See-zi-loo (plus, usernames back in the day couldn't be under 6 characters or something).  People tend to say the "s" when they say it out loud, and since it's a made up name with a made up sound, I don't bother correcting someone else's interpretation.  :)  It's such a non-popular name that I usually get it at most places.  It reminds me of their vacation that I didn't go on.

I think I answered in that other thread, but I'll play along here, too. I've been a longtime fan of 'The Wizard of Oz,' and had an obsession with ruby red shoes when I was in high school. All my shoes were red. I also like gem stones, and one of my first AOL screen names was "rubybeth." My first name is Beth.

Have you ever noticed how un-origal most people are when it comes to screen names?  The same is true of vanity license plates.

You see a car and the plate is TOM1 or MARYBETH etc.  Talk about wasting money.  You pay for a vanity plate and can't even come up with something original or imaginative.

Best I ever saw was a little canary yellow Mercedes 250 convertible with a good looking blonde driving it.  The vanity plate read, WAS HIS.  That told you all you needed to know.  LOL

Boat names can be a little more creative, but not by much. If you ever have to name a boat, go for deeply personal or no meaning at all. Avoid the clichees.

Nothing too creative here - my home and native land province (Saskatchewan) and the way I would like to approach life (I need the reminder, as I can get too serious and stress-y).  Pic of Eiffel is from our trip to Europe with my whole family, so it gives me the warm and fuzzies every time I think about it

4 kids who are hardcore soccer players. Despite saying when i met my wife we would introduce our kids to all sports not just what we did (she was a D1 Volley ball player and I played pro-am basketball) we did say "there is no way we will ever be soccer parents". Well it turned out to be great because we learned the sport along with them so couldn't have the neurotic tendencies some parents seem to have thinking they always no more than the coach. Its pretty much our splurge, lively hood, the thing we do. All our travels etc..

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
