Ugh Taylor Swift. Her songs are bangers but man, she is just too old to be singing about the topics she sings about, she's 34 years old and still most of her songs are "OMG BOYS R SO MEAN". Bruh. It feels like she's just pandering to high school girls, I guess she did come from the Nashville Music machine. Step 1: Figure out who's listening to music. Step 2: Relentlessly target your music at them. Its how we ended up with this:
Um . . . I wouldn't consider myself a swiftie, but two things.
1) This is the most "tell me you haven't listened to her music without telling me you haven't listened to her music," sentence I've seen in months. (Also, negging things other people enjoy doesn't make you cooler.)
2) I think that comparison is . . . a bit not good. The answer to "how we ended up with this," is, "racism and hate crime, and people who think that's okay."
@Hadilly, I'm with you. My nieces went (on their mama's dime), and had a great time. I did not go with them; I'm happy for them, and happy for my wallet!
Hah, oh I've definitely listened to some Swift. Not denying that. She's just been a bit
too consistent over the years, and its weird to hear someone that's very successful and in their mid-30s sing about angsty high school girl problems.
As for point #2--That's exactly what I'm talking about, blindly pandering to the people that consume their music. Rednecks LOVE country music, lets make more stuff that rednecks like! What do rednecks like? Trucks? Check. Guns? Check. Police (for some reason?) Check. Lynching? Check. LETS MAKE A SONG ABOUT IT!!! (oh wait, we forgot Jack Daniels and Cold Beer? DAMMIT, WE'LL HAVE TO DO THAT ON THE NEXT ONE!)
So anyways, Taylor Swift just does the same. What do high school girls like? Boys? Check. Being strong and independent and fuck the haters? Check. Crying? Check. Lets just head over to Chat GPT and make a song that some high school girls will love!
(Verse 1)
In the quiet of the night, I still feel your touch,
The memories we made, they haunt me so much,
Through the tears that fall like rain,
I replay it all, the joy, the pain.
(Pre-Chorus)
But in this lonely space, I find my strength,
I'll rise from the ashes, love's at arm's length,
I'll turn the page, though it's hard to do,
This broken heart will find its way through.
(Chorus)
Lost in the echoes of a love once true,
Wandering the streets we used to stroll through,
But I'll hold on to hope, and I'll rise above,
With each teardrop, I'll heal this lost love.
(Verse 2)
The photographs we took, they whisper tales,
Of laughter, promises, and fairy tales,
But life's not always like a storybook,
And sometimes love's the hardest book to close.
(Bridge)
Through the sleepless nights, I'll find my peace,
In the pain, I'll learn, and I'll release,
Though it feels like I'm a starless night,
I'll find the strength to shine so bright.
(Chorus)
Lost in the echoes of a love once true,
Wandering the streets we used to stroll through,
But I'll hold on to hope, and I'll rise above,
With each teardrop, I'll heal this lost love.
(Outro)
And in the end, I'll look back and see,
The lessons learned, and the growth in me,
Love may be lost, but I'll find my way,
To a brighter dawn, a brand-new day.
