I’m kinda wanting a Garmin watch. A couple months ago, I passed out/fell asleep/tripped while peeing in the middle of the night and smacked my head, giving me a concussion. I don’t remember the fall, but it’s apparently pretty common when you have a concussion to not remember the 5 seconds or so before a concussion. Bottom line, I’m not really sure what happened.
Anyways, I have a really old Apple Watch that I’ve been tracking my sleep with out of curiosity, and it showed my heart rate at 38bpm right around the time that I fell, and normally my heart rate while sleeping is ~45. It could be an error though, I really don’t know. It’s a really old Apple Watch and doesn’t really track heart rate all that well. We went to the ER after I fell and they did an EKG, said it was normal, but they tracked me for all of 15 seconds. I’m kinda wanting to see if there’s anything odd in my heart rate and the Garmin watch’s advertise that they have ECG functionality.
I’m a pretty fit 37 year old, I ride bikes ~5 hours a week and lift weights 2-3x per week so I guess it’s unlikely that I’ve got some kind of heart issue, but I’m wondering if having one of these wearable ECGs would give me a better idea of what my heart is doing on a day to day basis.
Anyone have one of the new Garmin watches? Any comments on its ecg capability? I feel fine now but it took a couple months for me to recover from that concussion and really don’t want another one.
