Welp, my husband is getting laid off tomorrow.
« on: September 20, 2013, 11:23:53 AM »
The company told him he was going to be able to keep his job even though he didn't pass a test that he had to take, and that he could retake it in February. He's been fed up with their bullshit for a while now, and with the swing shift schedule. We're still waiting to hear about the other job he applied for that will have a dayshift schedule and about the same pay.

But in the mean time, he'll file for unemployment and try to find something permanent with a good schedule. He did security a while back and he really liked it. It just didn't pay enough. But now that we're debt free and *crosses fingers* still trying to move to be w/o a rent payment, he could go back to doing that (and go back to school).

It sucks, yeah, but I'm not super stressed about it. Some people (and it would have been us not too long ago) would be shitting bricks right now. I'm so glad we are not those people anymore.

Glad you two are in a place where loss of an income isn't going to destroy your finances. When he looks for a new job, he could focus on getting a job that suits his needs/wants, rather than grabbing the first thing that comes along.

I am originally from Pickens county, so Hi to a fellow South Carolinian.

Been there, done that not too long ago.  Having ample wealth to live on for a while makes the situation a lot less stressful.  And it buys you time to get your mind right and find a good job instead of just any old job.

Yup. That's what he's going to focus on. He's been unhappy for a while now.

I'm in Greenville! Hiya!
