We need a military forum on this page!
« on: December 11, 2016, 08:44:52 AM »
We need a military group in this forum.  There are certain things specific to military/military retirees (such as pensions, VA healthcare, Tricare, Space-A flights for world travel, etc...) that would make having a specific sub-group worthwhile.

I know there are a few veterans on here.  What are your thoughts?  Worthwhile?  Unnecessary?

Find articles by the member Nords.  He knows all about the military.  He has a guide.

Nords and a few others tend to chime in whenever there's a military question being asked, even if it's not financial.  There's a military thread in the post-FIRE section, and run of the mill military questions get answered in due course.

I'm agnostic on the perpetual debate about adding another subgroup to the forum, but I search every week for the "military" keyword. If you bring up a military benefits question then I'll find it (and hopefully be able to answer it).  This forum is so big and busy that I no longer read every post, so if you want a faster answer then please send me a PM alerting me to the discussion.

Many of those benefits niche topics are also discussed on Facebook groups, although the FB discussion is much more basic than here.

SpaceA.net (and its accompanying FB group) is probably the best place for discussing the logistics of Space A.

I was active duty Army for quite a few years, but considered myself a "citizen soldier, not a careerist, so I don't mind mixing with the civilian riff-raff. :)

Google hits with  22,300,000 results for "military benefits forums"  I can see how 21 million is inadequate but 22 million should satisfy anyone.  Compare that to 11,500,000 for "Federal Employee Benefits Forums"...
