After around three years of procrastinating we finally made the leap on 30 June (aged 53 and two thirds).

We probably could have retired three years ago but I'm a firm believer in finding the right comfort zone (buffer) in your finances to not have to worry in retirement.

I've agreed a one-day a week contract for the first year so the transition will be quite smooth.

Have spent those first 12 days of retirement setting up my retirement blog and taking a small vacation.  There's no sense of strangeness yet, other than all my days have been extremely busy!

Would welcome any constructive criticism of the blog but be gentle as its still a work in progress and built entirely from advice taken from you tube.  There's some old content that I transferred from a wordpress site but I'll be adding lots of new stuff over the coming weeks.

CONGRATULATIONS - good luck with your new blog and most of all with your new ER life style. I like that you'll be working one day a week to begin with, but I bet down the road you might want to shed that last shackle too:)

thanks - its already agreed that its only a 12 month thing....and to be honest it already feels like a hassle!
