Just a curious question, how many shares of vtsax do you have? (I just started on the wonderful path of vtsax today)

For some reason I'm uncomfortable answering this, I post loads of my financial info, but this just has no context.
If you had ask in other terms like percent of assets or just something!
I might work my way into it later.

Meaningless number. How much money invested? I was just thinking about how we really don't need to even know the number of shares, not buying any "thing" of value, just the actual balance and rate of return.

I have no clue.  I put in cash and vanguard converts it into shares.  It makes no difference to me if it is 1 hundred shares or 1 million.

Well ya! But for every 1 million dollars of VTSAX, you have 13,800 shares.
 Just trying to help! :-)

Agree- no context, not a long term poster.
This question is the same as asking to give a dollar value to an investment that many of us are heavily invested in.

That value changed today.  What do I do now?

Well the value of the shares is what is appreciating, so it does make a difference. Just depends on level of knowledge about what is going on.

Vanguard tells me how many shares I have and how much money.
