US National Parks status
« on: April 20, 2020, 01:46:28 PM »
It looks like International travel may be on the back burner for a good while. I am a resident in the US and one does not have to be a rocket scientist to sense the future demand for outdoor adventure and tourism in your native country. That led me to a search of the google machine and how National Parks may reopen. Interesting article here from Forbes magazine:

Camping stores, hiking, biking. Could do very well in the new economy.

But even if Xanterra doesn't fully open, there are still lots of parks that don't use them. Two of my nearby fed parks are closed to cars. So, you have to walk or bike in.

It will be interesting, as Utah is gradually opening right now. Zion, Bryce, and Canyonlands are rumored to be opening May 1 with limited facilities. Zion is the only one that has more than limited anyways, but the international tourism is out of the game.

A potential problem is state line. My state has an order for anyone from out of state to self-quarantine for two weeks. I believe that many states have similar orders for out of state visitors.
