Just appreciate the works
« on: August 05, 2015, 01:31:12 AM »
This bike is made by designer Tjeerd Veenhoven, using mounting parts of a bike into a jig and running carbon wires drenched in epoxy resin between them. What a nice design! What's your opinion?

Oooh bike porn.  Now back to to may ancient and battered mountain bike.  I expect the Hub feels very much the same when he gets one of those "Beautiful girls are waiting for your call" emails and then comes home to me.

A studied insult to engineering.

Some of the zig-zaging structural members, not to mention the crude method of forming them, appear to be largely unrelated to function, other than holding recognizable stock components apart in space.

To me it closely resembles a middle school student's doodle in a spiral notebook.  (If middle school students still doodle in spiral notebooks, I dunno.)  But this version is rendered in resin and fiber instead of pencil on ruled paper. 'Cuz he is a licensed Designer, I guess.

Maybe its just a bunch of glued-up carbon string connecting a variety of bike parts, for hanging on a wall in the internet.  Maybe...

But give it a test ride and tell me how it works out. I could be so completely old that I can't appreciate hipster designers mining a past that never was.  Maybe...

Joke design. Just a visual twist to make it look different so people will think it is something "new" and buy it.

Looks like a waste of $$ in my opinion.
