I thought it would be a great idea to highlight some Mustachian achievements that we’ve done this year
(so far!!). Here are some of mine:
Replaced a pretty big slab of my concrete porch for less than half the quoted price of a contractor
(including buying some new tools). Was pretty intimidated as this was my biggest and most difficult
home repair project to date.
Purchased the majority of the tools I needed for some various home projects through yard
sales/craigslist, once again for a fraction of the price of buying new.
Spent less than $100 on baby gear for my twins due in a month. Gave an enthusiastic “YES PLEASE!!!” to
everyone who asked if we needed anything for the twins, and ended up with tons of awesome, lightly
used stuff!!
Started mowing my lawn and mulching my leaves using a reel lawn mower (purchased from Craigslist),
instead of paying a landscaping company the $15/cut.
Started more active maintenance of my lawn (cutting it taller, using organic fertilizer, not using chemical
weed killers, mulching leaves into the lawn, etc) in order to have better curbside appeal.
Started a new job paying $6k more in salary per year and about $9k more per year in bonus that is closer
to home.
Put away another 4% of my salary into the 401k.
ANNNNNNNND
Most importantly, paid off almost 10k in debt.
