The Good and The Bad
« on: November 25, 2014, 09:40:46 PM »
Hi Everybody. This is just an update on where I am now financially.  Comments/suggestions are always welcome!  The reality is things aren't going too badly for me, but I am scared because I'm soon to be 54 years old and I don't make big bucks.  Saving money does kind of hurt, but I'm looking for ways to make it work.

The Good
I paid off my one and only credit card.  Yay!
I have no other debts of any type (at this time).
In December, I'm going to get a company bonus of $2,500.  Later in 2015 I will get another bonus for the same amount.  Yay again!

The Bad
I only have $500 in savings right now.
I was in a vehicle accident Sunday and now need to pay a $500 deductible.
My quarterly insulin pump expense (due this month) is going to be $540. Boo hoo.

What sort of feedback are you looking for?

If you'd like us to have a good look at your budget and investments, try posting a case study so we can pick it all apart for you :)

You forgot "and The Ugly" lol.

You are up there in age like I am, but not impossible to figure out what's next. You need to pump as much money away as possible into your retirement accounts. If you don't have any accounts, you need to open some, and start packing that stash like a squirrel in late October!

If you have ways to make some side-cash, start doing them and hit them as much as possible. Maybe working OT, sell things on Craigslist or Ebay, start brainstorming. If you want more specific info, you need to lay out a case study for us.

"The Bad" is truly only as bad as you make it. Not many people are fortunate enough to have only a $500 deductible. And there is always sunshine after the rain. Unless the rain stops at midnight.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
