TMobile and bank account
« on: July 23, 2023, 05:47:31 AM »
I have t-mobile cell phone service. To receive a $10 discount on the monthly
bill they are now requiring automatic draft from the checking account or use
of a debit card to receive the discount. Which is the safest option ?

I know it's costing me $10 a month, but I just won't do it.  I don't want to allow any entity to withdraw money from my accounts.  I don't have a debit card any longer because it was hacked twice.  Verizon, which we use for internet, also wants me to allow them to deduct my payment directly from my bank account or they will charge me $10.  When I told the woman that I don't allow that because of the possibility of hacking, she offered me a 'protection plan'. Of course, that protection comes with an additional fee.  No, thank you.

Can you have it autopay to a credit card? My Verizon account allows me to do that and get the $10 per line fee removed. I pay my cards off monthly but it is one step away from my bank account.

I got the discount by having it put on a CC.

I do T Mobile pay-as-you-go for $15/month. No checking account connection required. Perhaps that would work for you too?

I wish I could get a $10 monthly discount on my unlimited cell service.  Then I'd only be paying $5!  I pay by cc and use T-Mobile's network.

I received messages over the past month stating that they were now requiring either debit card or direct withdrawal from a bank account to receive the $10 credit.  I then received a message a few days ago that they had removed my discount because I did not sign up to change from cc to withdrawal from a bank account.  So that option is going away.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
