Thanks for opening my eyes....
« on: January 16, 2015, 08:47:31 AM »
I have been a cash or debit card person for years, not that that is bad, but through reading a bunch of threads on this forum, I got our first Credit card since I was quite young, the Chase Sapphire last Sept. I believe, I just booked our first 2 flights for free, I'm so excited.

This trip is going to be quite Mustachian, the one flight, I am joining my DH in NOLA for a business trip, so everything is free or paid for by his work except a little food, Yay, Happy birthday to me!!

Thanks for sharing how simple it is, we always pay them off every month, and starting with one that gave me 40,000 points just for signing up and meeting a min. was a great jump start, maybe next year we can fly the whole family down to a warmer climate to escape from winter :)

Yup - good on you for decided to get a little of your money back with a credit card.  Cash and debit are fine, but like you've experienced, you certainly won't be travel hacking your way into free or low cost flights or hotel stays that way.  Just be sure to cancel the card before the yearly fee kicks in if you intend on maximizing your rewards.
