I just wanted to post a quick thank you to everyone here.

My wife and I have been working on moving towards getting from a paycheck to paycheck position towards hitting FI since February this year. Six weeks ago I was waking up at night in a panic, worried I would have to dip into savings to pay a bill before the next paycheck. Today I'm calculating my savings rate and learning how to do better than I did last pay period.

I'm editing mint every day, learning to get spending under budget and narrowing down that budget because of the face punching lessons in the forums and blog.

Thank you for taking the time to help people who want to learn financial wisdom and get a better nights sleep.

Good Job!

Next you'll be waking up at nights because you're excited for the next possibility/hurdle.  For example: "I could be debt free in 6 months if I do BLANK!" or "Holy crap, I'm going to have a net worth of BLANK at my next paycheck!"  But those are much better things to be waking up at night about.

Either way, you'll be sleeping much better.  Sweet Dreams!

Awesome! I also totally agree with Stache in Training, you will start waking up in the middle of the night or obsessing waiting on payday because you know X number of days from now you'll hit Y milestone. I can't wait until you get there, it's where I'm at now and it feels great!

Great work! There is great information here (and on jlcollins and other sites you may see cross-referenced her).
Tracking expenses is an important step, I am using Excel vs. Mint. It is good to see where the money is going!
Keep up the good work, and don't punch yourself too hard for not being 'perfect'.

Thanks for the replies and encouragement everyone. I'm absolutely going to keep updating and posting. Mint says I'm 5 years four months from FI right now but I see that as a challenge instead of a road map.
