I can see where some people might have issues with being told to do something that they find ridiculous.

That being said, in that specific case, I would try to find a way to make it "fun" to sing the cheer, even if it is only for the camaraderie.

Some of these comments. Man. If someone complains about a cold, do y'all respond with "be glad it's not cancer"?

I mean I agree, this ain't the hill to die on, but geez. Let the poor bastard vent about something stupid at work.

On a site that claims to be about "badassity", yes, whining about having to sing a stupid song in order to hit a tangible financial milestone seems weak and petty.

Chris, you really shouldn't be throwing rocks when you live in a house made of glass. :P

Its actually a fairly common tradition in Asia...In China you will see whole restaurants, from wait staff to chefs assemble pre shift on the street in front of the restaurant and have a pep talk that ended in a cheer.  I actually enjoyed watching it.

I second cheering in solidarity for the people who need this job as their sole source of income. Do it badly, if you need to, try to 1-up the other people doing it poorly. Gamify the stupid cheer. :D

The less negative attention that you receive from the boss the less stress it will be - at least I can say that's how it would be for me.

OK, this got my attention. Domino's has this poor guy cheering, but is it public - i.e. in front of customers? Or is it just the team at the start of the shift, etc.? Imagine how much WORSE it would be doing this on a busy street corner in front of the store at 5:30 PM.

First. World. Problem.

Clearly APowers has never been in the military. Much stupider shit than this (rock painting in a combat zone anyone?) in much worse conditions. Illegal, unethical, immoral are the screening criteria; if its not one of these, then ruck up and draw fire.

I am totally going to make my employees do this from now on. What an awesome way to mess with them.

Assuming the OP lives/works in an 'at will employment' state, he is indeed being paid to do whatever the boss says (excluding illegal things). If he doesn't like it, he's free to leave.

If we're being pedantic, he's being paid to make pizzas and being asked to cheer.  It's up to him to decide whether it is worth it to him or not.  If they don't like it, they're free to fire him.  Being "at will" doesn't change the job arrangement, just the tools at their disposal if they want to be real dicks about this.  (Which, according to their former manager, they seem to be.  Yikes.)

Yeah, this needlessly aggressive "badassity" "face punch" business around here is a bummer.  It can't be enough that people are trying to save money or live their own lives outside the norm.  Someone has to be wrong, and FUCK THEM FOR BEING DIFFERENT THAN ME.

I would usually see it between 10 and 11AM ... Since it was China, I'm guessing they only have 1 shift.  Next "shift" tomorrow!

This is a cheer I can get behind.
