Southwest Shows paid CC: no transaction? what should i do??
« on: September 26, 2019, 10:08:53 AM »
Hey all!

So here is my problem.

On Sept 16th +/- One day I booked a flight for 2 people to Orlando in December over the Holidays . I say September 16th because on the Itinerary thats when it shows charged to my Credit card.

Like many people I use mint and I saw that area in my budget wasnt right and sure enough the charge wasnt there.

I called Southwest with my Itinerary up and they said everything is good that Tickets are in my name nothing is flagged. It took me 51 minutes on hold to find that out. In the meantime I was chating on  line with Citi (Its a Citi double cash mastercard) and they show nothing. So after I got off phone with Southwest the Chat was really going nowhere with Citi so I went to run an errand and called Citi Direct. They show no attempt to charge from Southwest.

My concern is I dont want to show up at my gate and all of a sudden my DS and I have tickets cancelled and or I wait a week or two and see it still not show up and tickets have gone way up and so on.

Not sure what to do. Has anyone experience this and or have advice?

Thanks in advance

Since my post I found an email and copied and sent my Itinerary to Southwest and asked them to make sure that some one who can actually check to see if the CC was charge too can look at it. Figured worth a shot but doubt that will happen.

Dicey

Yes, I have had this experience, but I was using gift cards. With certain* gift cards, you must book on the phone. I bought tickets for two people, but agent only booked one. It was a total clusterfuck. I had to call SWA's Customer Service line in Dallas. It was finally resolved, but not to my satisfaction. IIRC, we had to pay a higher fare for the second flight, even though it was their mistake and their unwritten (on the gift card) rules.

Call Corporate Customer Service and be persistent. For sure get a written confirmation of your flight and keep checking it. It's not really your problem that your card hasn't been charged, it's theirs to figure out. Not saying you should get free tickets, but let them worry about finding the money you obviously gave them.

*I get Coinstar gift cards on a regular basis. There is no fine print on them, but there should be. SWA says you can't use more than four in a single transaction, which sucks if they're small gift cards. There's some other unprinted gotchas, but off the top of my head, I can't recall. Obviously, I don't choose that option any more.
