Some mustachian ideas in the media
« on: March 07, 2018, 08:20:41 PM »
I happenned upon this gem of an article today.  Nothing we as faithful (or at least aspiring) Mustachians dont already know, but like most simple truths, we need constant reminding lest we forget.

Loved this quote: Jim Rohn once remarked that, “The greatest reward in becoming a millionaire is not the amount of money that you earn. It is the kind of person that you have to become to become a millionaire.”

It's a nice thought, though certainly not an absolute truth.

Another item that i heard today was a segment of the Tim Ferris podcast (aside: thats how i first heard about MMM).   Tim was emphasising just how critical it is to start building alternative life silos so that when one of them goes away (such as in early retirement) you have other things that are big parts of your identity.

He was specifically speaking in context of highly successful people who win the money game and yet find themselves either continuing to work because it is all they have in their lives or they do retire and become miserable.  His point was that we have to work on these other aspects of our lives before we retire and not wait to figure it out when we have nothing else.  Sounds like really good advice.  It is certainly something that worries me.  I'm expecting to be FI in about 4 years, so I guess i had best get on with that life stuff.
