Shout out to IP Daley / Airvoice Wireless
« on: January 11, 2016, 08:52:44 PM »
Inspired by the crappy reception in my new apartment, and given courage by some other posts and IP's guide, I ditched Tracfone and got an Airvoice Wireless cellphone.  I haven't been to the boonies yet but the reception in the Portland area (including in my apartment) has been great - clear, undropped calls, good service, etc.  I'm paying for the $20/month package and am very happy with it.

I also got my own modem and router and returned Comcast's modem so I am no longer paying the $10/month charge to rent theirs.  And with now having a reliable cellphone, I was able to drop my home phone.  It will save me about $25/month with a lot less stress (and less money going to Comcast, which I'm also happy about).  Not a ton but that savings will continue to add up.

Thanks, IP and thanks to this forum in general.  I learn so much here!

AGREE!  I made the switch to Airvoice from AT&T after reading about Airvoice here, and haven't had any problems.  I'm on the $30/mo plan, and, if I recall correctly, it's saving me ~$35/mo over AT&T!

I'm on $50 plan reimbursed by the company (flat dollar reimbursement with left over amount). So far works great. I have an IP phone that I pay 8/month. I take this overseas when I travel so I can receive calls from the US on a US number. My monthly phone bill is almost nothing.

Congrats!! It's awesome what thinking out of the box and taking a second look can do. We have also dramatically slashed our bills in the last month. It feels fabulous!

Realize this is old, but I have an Airvoice question.

Does anyone know how much Airvoice charges for excess data usage under one of its Unlimited Plans? Or does Airvoice simply cut off your data if you go over the limit indicated in its terms?

Thanks!

They cut you off on the $20/$30/etc / month plan. You could force a renewal at that time, it might make sense of you were only a few days away from normal renewal time.

My wife uses above plans with her iPhone. I refill $10 prepaid every three months for my iPhone, so works out to like $3/month for me.

Recommend :)

Great! Very helpful. I would rather be cut off than to pay some stupid perMB fee....
