Search function question
« on: June 15, 2014, 09:05:50 AM »
Ever since the recent reconfiguration of the MMM site, I have been frustrated by the search function.  Maybe I am doing something wrong.

I have tried searching from the MMM homepage, but this only gives me results that are MMM posts.  (Mostly, I search for things that folks have written about in the forum.)  Using the search function within the Forum area does not give me satisfactory results either.

For example, I know that there have been discussions about how one defines FU money versus FI versus RE.  How can I successfully search for those discussions?

Thanks.

Have you tried the advanced search, rather than just the simple small box in the upper right?

How about using Google and the site: operator?
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.
I (rarely) blog at AdventuringAlong.com. Check out the Now page to see what I'm up to currently.

In the google search field you can type:
site:forum.mrmoneymustache.com "FU money"
And it will just search this forum for that phrase.

Very useful operator for sites that don't have a search function.
