Sean Spicer Needs a 'stache
« on: January 23, 2017, 07:59:35 AM »
http://money.cnn.com/2017/01/21/media/sean-spicer-press-secretary-statement/

Did anyone else have the same thought as me: that if Sean Spicer, White House press secretary who recently told a few blatant, easily disproved lies, had FU money, he could have stood up for the truth/good values?

Imagine if, like most of us here, he had FU money and didn't care if he got fired. He could have gone on stage and called out Trump for trying to push lies on the American public and told the truth. He would have been revered as, dare I say it, a hero vs. vilified by the media. He probably would have gotten a 6 to 7 figure book deal out of it.

Such a shame.

(I anticipate this thread might be moved to another one of the discussion forums.... but anyway...)

At the first press conference, Spicer spent nearly the entire time ranting about the media and talking about the size of the crowd.  I believe the majority of the media baited the Trump administration on this, and the administration took it hook, line, sinker, and pole.  I think it was an absolute embarrassment for the Trump administration react that way.  In comparison, I think back to how the Obama administration handled the "birth certificate" issue (which I believe was mostly spearheaded by Trump), and how they handled it professionally and brushed it off, made jokes of it, etc.  I would have expected the Trump administration to treat the "crowd side" issue similarly.

HOWEVER, The "lies" are kind of a side-show of what I think the real issue is.  I'm not too shocked by the lies, but the more disturbing bits from the press conference were the two lines about: 1) telling the media what they should be talking about and covering, and 2) telling the media that they would be "held accountable" for what they choose to report.

I think most Republicans who knew it was going to be a shit show didn't sign up to work directly for Trump and bowed out. Guys like Sean wouldn't stand for the truth if he even still knows what that means. He's got "alternate facts" as they say...

Spicer having FU money wouldn't matter because he wouldn't think to say FU. Neither would Conway. This administration is composed entirely of sycophants and yes men. There are "people on the administration" who know how to handle information around him and I'm assuming that's his children. Beyond them, nobody is going to say no to any wacky request including directly lying to the press and the American people about trivial matters. What happens when it's not something trivially falsifiable?

You're free to talk about your views and so is everyone else, as long as it doesn't run afoul of the very few moderation rules around here. You wanna start a thread about how the lies (er I mean "alternative facts") coming out of the administration are fine and dandy, go ahead.

Haha, sure...  I'm not at all surprised that a forum about early retirement tilts left.  There are a lot of high income earners on here but most seem to be focused on living well rather than the typical conservative fare for high earners.

I went to college with him. Believe me, he has a long history of his personal opinion taking precedence over any sort of truth or fairness. No amount of money changes that personality type, although I've certainly seen that behavior more often from people with lots of money, especially the inherited kind.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
