Vanguard Index fund question

Hi there,

We finally set up a Vanguard account, but then discovered that there are quite a few Vanguard index funds to choose from. Any advice on choosing one or more?

I started by reading www.bogleheads.org/wiki   and just picked a Lazy Portfolio. So far so good.

If you can, go for admiral funds, I like vtsax and vfiax.



Don't forget to ask at work about 401k options, Fidelity has similar "Spartan" funds to VG.  I had to ask my HR person to get them added to our plan.

My husband and I both have Fidelity 401K's, but are looking for savings outside of that and decided we'd like to go with Vanguard Index funds. Will definitely have a look at both sites mentioned.

Does Admiral shares mean that you start with $10K to invest? Do we have to put the entire $10K into one index fund, or do I just need to invest that money in Vanguard funds in general?
