Retirement Celebration Thread/Calendar
« on: September 15, 2014, 08:39:38 AM »
A few 2014 retirees:

Frankh (aka-exflyboy)(Back at work though, so not sure this one counts??)
Spoonman
Jon_Snow

A few hopeful 2015 retirees:

Dr. Doom
Frankie's Girl
So Close
Arebelsy maybe?

Congratulations to you all if I haven't already said it elsewhere. I'm sure I missed many people who retired or are about to, so if anyone wants to add some names to the mix go for it.

I'd love to see someone create a calendar and link it to this thread so we can post some retirement dates; I'm not smart enough to accomplish this. It was very fun reading about Spoonman's last few months in his journal. I've heard bits and pieces from Jon_Snow scattered around the forum and thought he was retiring soon. Then last night someone asked about it and hopefully there will be a more detailed post soon.

I find it fun to hear these stories, and I think it would be cool if we could maintain a calendar and/or thread listing everyone's FIRE dates so we can monitor and celebrate their freedom along with them. Maybe people can link up to their journal or retirement story posts via this thread to keep us all in the loop.

The E-R.org forum has "Class of 2xxx" threads dedicated to each year, where people post what day they'll be ERing (though, of course, it sometimes changes).

Go check it out, sounds similar to what you're looking for.

We MMMers aren't cool enough to have our own "class of 2xxx" threads?

NICE!

Just to be clear on terms, are we only including people that actually "ER," or is it when people reach FI? I bet we'll catch a lot more fish with the latter.

Knock yourself out.  I was giving CS an example he could go look at to see what it might look like/how another ER forum does it.  :)

Catching fish?  Sounds like a retirement activity to me.  :)
