Retirement accounts hit 900 k today!

It has been crazy watching our investments grow, just hit 900 k invested in our retirement accounts today! Now, on to a million! Unbelievable. This is the only good place to share :)

Just the last year has been.  I keep waiting for a day that is more than 1% down, and it rarely happens.  A 2-3% day down is unheard of... not that I'm complaining  :-)

Congratulations! Its nice to enjoy the ride but yes the next correction is around the corner. When ? who in the hell knows but make sure you re-balance etc.......

Yeah, the year has been silly.  I had a 2017 year end NW goal that I hit back in September.

I consciously deflate my (and our) current NW to stay more grounded.

If a correction never occurs...well great...FIRE that much sooner!

Anyway, gains are gains so congrats!

Market correction will occur.  Sooner or later.  It's nice to see a high value.  But also recognize that high value really isn't "real".

This current stock market run-up has essentially made my portfolio rocket past my FIRE target numbers... However, I won't really feel like I would be comfortable leaving my full-time job until the next major market pullback happens (and if my "numbers" are still high enough afterward...)

I posted it in the Top Is In thread I believe, but a 10% "correction" only takes us back to about March/April 2017 from today's numbers.

A major 20% drop takes us back to mid-2016.

A major 20% drop takes us back to mid-2016.

I'm not worried about a 20% drop... but am worried about drops near 50%... I've already lived through two of those (tech bubble, housing bubble), in addition to another 20%+ drop in '87 (although I was too young to have any assets invested to be affected by that one.)
