For those of you with kids who have taken a few months off (or longer) to travel, how did you plan for this financially? What was your strategy? I am thinking I want to do it (at a minimum) next summer, maybe longer, but I need to get strategic about the financial part of it and I'm not sure where to start. We are in our mid-40s, but in pretty good shape financially. We are in a high tourist area too, so could rent our house out most likely while we are away.
Would love any advice on how you went about figuring all of that out.
