Putting Things in Perspective
« on: August 24, 2015, 09:05:38 PM »
We sold our McMansion and are moving into a 1970's fixer upper that we should be able to pay off within the next two years.  In the midst of the buying, selling, and moving, I got rear ended by a Dodge Ram. My poor eight year old Mazda5 didn't stand a chance so it's totaled.  We had planned to use the Mazda to move our boxes so I asked the rental company for a similar vehicle since the compact car I was given originally didn't have much room.  No minivans were available, but they told me they had an SUV I could use.  I went to pick it up today and am now driving a Ford Expedition that it so big it doesn't fit into my garage.

They crazy thing?  I realized on the way home from the rental car place that the Expedition cost more than our new mortgage.  I am feeling pretty badass right now.

(Fortunately, it will hold a lot of boxes and I am not paying for it.)

Wow.  That is a really low mortgage (or pricey expedition depending on how you look at it).
