MMM T-Shirts!
« on: June 13, 2017, 09:43:07 AM »
I spend waaaay more time on the forum than the blog, but just happened to spot this today:

http://www.mrmoneymustache.com/shirts/

Note, there are DIY instructions and permission to reproduce for personal use is included so you don't have to buy one for $16.00. Best of both worlds.

Oh well!  I can't wait to wear it!

I agree with these posters on the blog
Sarah June 9, 2017, 7:07 am
And yet, I wouldn’t want to be caught wearing one while buying a fancy coffee or getting into a clown car. It’s like a $15 reminder to be a frugal badass while wearing it. It’ll pay for itself.

wishicouldsurf June 9, 2017, 8:44 am

I ordered one. Yes, it seems like a frivolous use of money but I think wearing it may be an interesting social experiment because I *might* meet some more mustachians. In my spendy SoCal community, folks tend to keep their spendthrift and very limited car clown behaviors on the down low, so it might be a way to connect with some other like-minded folks.

Of course, I have to agree with MMM's own statement

Mr. Money Mustache June 10, 2017, 8:07 am
..... Yeah, definitely a good idea. The “small” size will look good on most ladies, but it would be better to have the shaped/shorter sleeved option.
I think I’ll have the shirt printers bring a batch of those over, because we need to help fight the impression of Mustachianism being a guy thing.

Personally, I think I'll pass on the monster emblem T-shirt, but if there is ever an iron on patch with the logo, I'm in. Come to think of it, I believe I may still have a sheet of sticky page that can be printed up with logos and pics. Michael's and Jo-Ann carries that sort of thing in case anyone is interested.

Got mine yesterday! I felt guilty spending 16$ which is somewhat sad however I suppose its part of who we all are being here. I am looking forward to seeing if I meet anyone while wearing it.

My wife said I was a huge dork for getting it but she wont think that when we are retired 30 years before all of our friends!

The link above should be active. It went up a couple of days ago. It was mentioned in the far right hand column of the MMM Home Page.

And Rosy, wishicouldsurf needs a visit from the grammar nazis. Spendthrift doesn't mean what s/he thinks it does.

Dude, I was a very early MMM fan, because I was an ERE groupie when Jacob passed the baton to Pete. I read all the posts in real time and used to comment frequently, but the more time I spend on the forum, the fewer comments I post or read on the blog. I much prefer the back-and-forth of the forum. The hive mind and group support are also much more compelling here.

And you are free to tease, just know you're messing with an old timer. You know what they say about old age and treachery.

Or you could use vistaprint - it's probably not at all eco/ I've no idea where they source their tees, but you can upload any image and make your own tee, hoodie, cap, polo shirt etc in quantities of one or more. It's who I use for my business uniforms. I might do a version with the logo top right left hand corner.

I might be a bit embarrassed wearing it at first but it would be a conversation starter at least with some people that I think might be interested.

I can't bring myself to spend that kind of cash on a shirt (the last shirts I bought were polo shirts at $2 each from a going out of business sale...), but I did print the logo and stick it on my refrigerator. Could be an interesting conversation piece for anybody coming over!

Sooo torn!!

I know - it's not a terribly Mustachian purchase.

I had a moratorium on clothes shopping for myself outside of thrift stores.  I decided to make an exception for this.

Who knows - it might help me connect with other Mustachians and/or prompt some conversations & introduce new people to the web site.

I never understood wearing team or brand logo clothing.  If you want me to advertise your team, brand, or blog, you pay me, I don't pay you.

You don't understand it?
My understanding of it is that occasionally people like to feel a part of something larger than themselves, and a team or group that you relate with fills that function.

I ordered two, one for myself and one for my SO.

I wore mine a few weekends ago for my buddy's bachelor party.  One of the other guys has recently started getting into MMM, so he was advocating for it louder than I was.  A few of the others seemed pretty interested in checking it out.  If it helps just one of my friends save $16 or more, then it's worth $16 to me.

I hate MMM because no one can save 80% of their income and because passive investing is terrible.  Also, it's a cult. He knows that because both of the people he knows who read MMM passionately defend him whenever the blog is mentioned.

I really like the shirts, but I wouldn't want to wear it around my kids due to the mildly racy language.  Their teachers probably wouldn't like it if they start using the word "badassity" around school.  Ugh.  Kids.

I notice that they are American Apparel shirts.

How does the women sizing run? In my past experience with their women's shirt - they run a bit small.

People hate too much.  Do I believe in everything MMM has to say? No, because I am a different person with different values and wants in life. However, he does have a lot to offer.   Even my SO would benefit from reading this and my SO would be the biggest spender on this site.

I might have but I have been trying to get away from owning & wearing black Tshirts* and I prefer slightly more subtle logos or designs.

black Tshirts* in past I got into bad habits of just wearing black tshirts every day.  I am not exactly high fashion but some color is not a bad thing.

I saw some very MMM like T-Shirts in Florence. Who would think to put a bicycle and a mustache together on a T-shirt? Maybe a closet Mustachian?

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
