possible new job ????
« on: November 04, 2015, 11:13:13 AM »
hello everyone,
not sure if this is the correct discussion board, sorry if its the wrong one.
here is the issue, if anyone can give me any input that would be great.

My husband holds a senior position  (20yrs ), he is  R&D chemist, 2 yrs a go a rep he deals with said they were looking for a experienced person and he felt my hubbie would be a excellent canadiate.
So he applied, went on 2 interviews, they flew him down to texas, it was between him another person, however the other person got the job, no hard feelings ,the hiring manger and the interview team told him that he was a excellent canadiate , and felt he did a excellent job, but they other guy got the final vote.
my husaband still deals with this person,  ( he is a rep who deals with my hubbie perfossionally)
my hubbie  said he was a great guy and wished him luck, they even golfed together, since the other guy is a rep and took my husband and another guy golfing.

ok......a few weeks ago they rep (who got the job 2 yrs ago), called my husabnd and said the company was looking to replace him, since he will be relocating, they guy recommended my husband to the hiring manager and the CEO...
also another rep at the hiring company recommened my hubbie ( 2 internal referrals )
The hiring manager remembers my husband , he also said the also the interview team remember  my hubbie.
The hiring manager called my hubbie and said he scored very well on the interview 2 yrs ago, techinically he is excellnt, and his presenatation skills are excellent, since he had to present during his interview 2 yrs ago and meet the whole  tech team.
they have talked 2 times on the phone last week, he will be flying from texas next week with the tech director  , they are meeting over lunch next week in our home town.
This all sounds wonderfull, my hubbie is happy about the  meeting and is looking forward to the meeting.
He even said he feels like a change in job would be good.

This is the thing.....I checked the company web site last week just to see the posted job, then last night I just checked again...THE JOB POSTING IS GONE !!!!!!!!!!    I did not say anything to my husband, I dont want him to be stressed about it, in fact I dont even think he checked the company site for the post, since they contacted him directly.
And they already have his resume and all his other details.
He got his interview date before the posting was removed, its all set for this week, nothing has changed.
I dont know what to think about all that, does it mean they have filled post? but they are still flying from texas to talk to my hubbie, ??????
I have been so worried about this, like I said I did not mention this to him, I dont want to stress him or cause unnecessary upset and disappointment....the hiring company is a very large comapny.
any HR people with insight???? any throughts about the post being removed ????
not sure what to think...stressing out about this, I dont want him to be upset and disappointed.

I've worked in HR.

If they are still flying him to interview then they are still considering him. No one is going to spend all that money as a "mercy interview" when they already have filled the position.

Often the job postings will have a specific submission window, and then submissions will close. Especially in large companies, who outsource the hiring website/collection of applications to third parties.

So I would not stress, he definitely still has a chance. Congrats to your hubby!

I'm not in HR but have been involved with hiring decisions. It may well be that they've decided they're going to fill the position no matter what from the current pool of applicants.

Meaning they've removed the posting from the website but will interview your husband and however many other people they feel is necessary, force rank and extend the offer, moving onto the next candidate in the event of a declination.

Has your husband vetted the employer to make sure it's a place he would want to work? Glassdoor, LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.
