PO'ed at Quest Diagnostics
« on: August 06, 2017, 10:26:29 AM »
After a discussion with a close relative, I thought I should review my latest blood test results.
The last time I checked it, you could look at all your results and even have a graph showing
the change from test to test.
Now in order to see your test results, you must pay $9.99. This is to see the results of tests you have already paid for.

Highway robbery. And don't your test results belong to you anyway? Like a hospital chart? I could see them charging some kind of photocopy fee if you wanted 700 pages of your medical records...but $9.99 for copies of your labs? Give me a break. Is this even legal? (I've worked in health care since 1969, so have at least some background and knowledge about this stuff.)

It says they send you a report within 60 days.
I don't know if they put it online for 60 days.
Less than 2 months ago, I could see all my lab results
and a graph showing change from test date to test date.
It was very cool.
Now, all I get is what I posted, minus my snarky comment.

I would definitely pursue this. I can't believe you don't have full access. Maybe others have had experiences they can post. Thanks for bringing this up--in the future I will make sure I have hardcopies of all my lab results and keep them in a binder or something.

God, can health care in this country get any more annoying and frustrating than it already is?

I sent a comment relating my unhappiness.
It said they will respond within 48 hrs.

BTW, I thought I might have printed the results, but I
think after I made an account, it was so easy to access
the lab results that I didn't do it. Anyway, I've looked through
my file and don't see any lab results.

I have to do blood draws every few months. My awesome MD always sends me my results with his interpretation. I don't see how they can charge you to view the results if you have already paid for the test.

I did get to see the last results, but they are no longer online.
I didn't print them, because I thought they would always be online.
 And they are--- for $9.99.

Can you ask the doctor who ordered the tests for copies?

I just logged into MyQuest and can still see my lab tests and results dating back to 2014.  I was not asked to pay to see the results.  I wonder what the deal is?

This. I honestly don't even remember who actually does the testing on my blood and whatnot, since literally all communications are through my doctor. Assuming your doc was the one who ordered the test in the first place, they should have a copy of your results.

+2  My doctor just mails me me results. I'm sure they have a copy in your record with them.

I sometimes order my own tests through DirectLabs.com.  They use Quest Diagnostics for the lab work and offer free online access to test results through both their website and QuestLabs.

DirectLabs runs specials quite often and is useful for ordering tests in between physicals when I don't really want or need a doctor to interpret the results for me or if it's for something like STD tests.

It's also vital to look into what exactly is included in the tests. Frequently they do not test for HPV, so someone with a clean STD report can, in fact, not be completely "clean". Just sayin'.

Who is your health care provider?  Do you have online access to your electronic medical records?  All your test results will be there.

Ahhh, modern romance. Do you make them Purel before shaking hands or hugging when you meet? And is dessert at the local police station for the CORI/background check and fingerprinting (Sorry couldn't resist - just teasing - Hahaha)

But to the OP - if your physician ordered the test, then they have to have the record and must provide the information/copy.

The only people I know of that have STD's got infected while they were married (cheating spouses). Everyone has to be careful out there. Sorry, I know this is off topic, just had to mention it.

I know I can get my blood test data!
I'm just complaining about how nice it was to have it all available online
with easy access in easy to understand format, with test to test graphing available.
Now they want $9.99 for me to access it online.
Must just be the mustachian in me.

Just rechecked, I still cannot access my info.
See my first post, the image I posted shows a box with,
"Purchase MyQuest Advanced Access" it has a green box with 5 in it.
This is a link to sign up and pay $9.99 to get you data.
Arrgh!
