So true, the basic pet gear is pretty simple. We are down to one dog right now, a 65 lb bulldog. Our three French Bulldogs all have died within the past 18 months and so we have no little dogs any more.
I went through all of our dog stuff last week to pack it up and give it away. I hadn't cleaned out leads, harnesses, and collars in a decade. Because we do a lot of work with Bulldog Rescue, we had a large number of items. I gave that stuff and extra towels to the shelter a block down the street. I packed up all of the stuff for little dogs and gave that batch to French bulldog rescue.
I also gave a bag of bulldog related "stuff" to Bulldog Rescue for their auctions and prizes. Even though I deliberately do not collect crap, it seems to find its way into my house.
Now we are down to the minimum that Teddy Bear the bulldog needs:
Several Nyla bones
Collar
Two leads
Water bowl, food bowls
I did save, in anticipation of getting more dogs, crates and bedding. We got all of the crates free or used, and we never buy bedding for dogs, it is always recycled towels or comforters from human use.
