Paying college tuition on credit card?

Hello Mustachians,

This topic may have been discussed in the past on this forum, but, I could not find anything quickly.

I have a child in college currently and I am paying the tuition. Is there a way that anybody knows that the tuition can be paid using a credit card? The college does not accept credit card payment through the Bursar's office. But are there any alternative legitimate ways that people may have come across?

my only reason for credit card use is to get 2% cashback that my cc company offers.

Colleges that accept credit cards typically charge a 2.5% fee, making them uneconomical. If you use a check supplied by the credit card, that's usually considered a cash advance, which is also very expensive. If we could pay by CC, we would, but pay by bank check to avoid these fees.

My college accepted credit cards with a 1.5% fee, cashback was 2%, so we did that.

But the college in question doesn't accept credit cards, it is unlikely you will find a way to pay with one.

I did it, mine didn't charge a fee, or I didn't notice it... but I also go scholarship for it so I didn't really "care" about the fee, it was being paid for anyways. I could have "saved" the leftover by even a 3% fee wasn't as good to me as the points were. I spent a good amount of vacation days at free hotels...
