Price is fabulous. So is ability to go on different plans for different times. We have 2 lines, one is on 4G (heavy commute time user) one is on 3G, so $65+tax. If I'm home for a spell I can switch to a different rate and only use 3G, or just WiFi for $5/month, which I just consider the cost of keeping the account open.
We are replacing 2 grandfathered unlimited plans on VZW, and one flipping awful Droid RAZR and one pretty good Incredible 4G LTE. After two years, I'll be saving about half, including the phones, something in the neighborhood of $1,000 (500/year).
We bought an X and a G. I'm a techie, but I didn't think I'd be impressed with the extra features on the X. I was. I am. Active notifications are amazing. Voice control is fun and even a little useful. (shouting) "OK Google! Find My Phone!"
I REALLY like the X. We took advantage of a MotoMaker sale and got 32GB models (why not?) and custom colors, but I'm probably going to hide those behind an OtterBox (ordered already - with a free drybox woot!)
Reception? Not amazing where we need it, but we knew that might be. And VZW - the best cell network in the Universe - also wasn't perfect. I have some concerns about long trips into ski country but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. The phones will roam onto VZ towers so making an emergency call SHOULD work. Data I am not as concerned about.
I have 2 main concerns, but I'm in the process of porting a number, and putting the other on suspension, so I'm pretty well committed.
1) WiFi calling isn't like having your own mini cell antenna. The app that controls whether the service uses WiFi/Broadband or Cellular doesn't always like my home and work WiFi - which are 2 high quality connections. 15/5 FIOS at home and standing a few feet from the router. When its good, its excellent. When for whatever reason it decides to slide to cellular, well its just not as good.
2) An early billing screwup, I was charged WAY too much tax. They did take care of it, and no waiting on hold... its all through an online interface that I have to say is quite effective. I've had several questions and they always take care of things.
