Interesting.  I'm so not understanding how much time for men AND women that is spent on "personal care."  Especially if you're not working...unless you're out looking for jobs, and I mean OUT.

When I'm not working, it's a superquick shower and blow dry my hair (Ok I'll admit to the occasional pajama day where I don't even shower).  Don't even worry about makeup, if I'm not going to work.  Nobody to impress.

Maybe I read through it too quickly, but I didn't see a category for "creative stuff." Stuff like writing, working on music, maybe doing crafts…embroidery, knitting, painting or other artwork, designing and making your own home-made beer. I guess exercise, like the biking, walking, running, Convict Conditioning, etc…..could be categorized under health care, in a way. And +1 for what netskyblue said about personal care.

If you read all thr way through, you will see that personal care includes health care, which can encompass a large portion of the day for those disabled persons included in the study.

I often see people, both men and women, jogging or biking in nice neighborhoods while I am going to work in the morning, and it always makes me think, "What is it about their lifestyle that allows them to be out exercising on a weekday morning?"  Some may be mustachians ... some may not be unemployed by choice and are looking ... some may have trust funds ... some may work at night.  I want to be one of those in the first category.

I think they included that under hobbies.

It might be a euphemism. :-)
