New Apple Credit Card

Thoughts?

The 3% cashback seems to be only for purchasing Apple products and services. It's 2% for Apple Pay (NFC) purchases, and 1% for using the chip on the card.

Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... 13-24% APR.

I could be off, but aren't these pretty standard interest rates across the board?

For cash back, they give cash back daily instead of waiting weeks to get statement and said it was unlimited cash back but article points otherwise. I think this may be the only lucrative thing in my eyes.

Makes me uneasy that apple is getting into the CC game. What are your thoughts?

Are apple getting into the game or just getting selling their logo to another corp for use on a card to test the water?

Goldman-Sachs is the issuing bank. Seems they're more just branding it, but the daily tracking and cash back seems interesting.
They're really just trying to push ApplePay usage it seems

I haven't drank the Apple juice yet, but I do hope that pushing ApplePay will spur more places to accept it, and by extension Google Pay.  I would prefer to pay for everything with my phone.

It seems to me like they are getting into the credit card game rather than just a branded card. They already have a branded one with Barclays that is super rigid with the rewards. I signed up for one about a year ago when we decided to purchase a new Macbook. 2pts for Apple spending, 1pt for everything else. They are very rigid with the rewards since you can only redeem the points for either an Apple or Itunes gift card.

The daily cash back agreement seems interesting and excessive.

I’m considering the Apple Card. I normally use Discover for everything, but I need a MasterCard/Visa  for when I go to to Canada for a trip I’m planning or if somebody just plane old doesn’t take Discover. The security features look cool and I I like the spending reports it can generate. I try to use Apple Pay whenever possible so at least I can get some more back on those transactions.

I don't see Apple pay as a value, as Citi double is 2% back for everything and buying used Apple merch online would be a better deal than new, even with the 3% back with the Apple card. I use Samsung pay for everything at stores (except at the gas pump), works great.

It actually seems like an incredibly good deal to me.

No annual fees. Instant cash back. No forex fees. No cash advance fees (which in conjunction with the nil forex fees makes it a viable traveller's card). Tell me why the card is bad? Is it because it's associated with OmniHyperMegaGlobalCorp?

I couldn't care less if they charged 2000% interest. Hell, I'd love for them to do so, if it meant better rewards and cash back for non-stupid people who pay their cards on time.

Same here.  I get 1.5% back with chase freedom unlimited, which is worth 2.25% in travel spending with the CSR, so I wouldn’t waste a hard pull on the Apple card (they do a pull right?).  But there really aren’t that many competitors in the 2%+ space.

I have the Fidelity rewards which gives you 2% cash back to deposit into your fidelity account.  I have it hooked up to Apple pay so it's not too different from the apple card (from a money or convenience perspective).  It sounds like the Apple card will have better security? and a fancier titanium card. and 3% for apple purchases, but I never buy new apple stuff, just used.

Interesting. Recently, I do not really trust Apple products. Now they are trying to enter the credit card market. Can I read reviews somewhere?

I thought it was decent too.  I think we all realize there are cards with better cash back or points, but they also don’t have the security features this card will have.

There are a lot of he-man Apple haters out there. That joke about how can you tell when someone is a vegan also seems to apply to people that don’t like Apple. They will make a point of telling you how much they hate Apple whether you asked or not and imply you are a fucking idiot for not hating Apple too.

Yup. The Apple Card provides zero value above the Fidelity 2% card, but then I'm an Android user, I don't travel internationally, and I don't use cash advances.

Yeah I’m an apple fan. But don’t forget the 2% is only if used with NFC, aka Apple Pay. If the card is used it’s only 1%

Mt first knowledge of the Apple card was just a picture. Apparently I was not the first person to have my first thought on the subject.

“Apple doesn’t know what you bought, where you bought it, or how much you paid for it,” huh? so how would apple know how much rewards to give you?

The bank knows.  Basically even though it’s an Apple branded card, they are using a regular bank to handle the back end

My post was meant to spark a similarity to the card created by the card created by the Fyre fiasco creator. I guess you needed to see the documentary on Netflix to get it. It was a metal card..... so it was awsome... because it was metal. Did anyone else see it and think of the Apple card when it was announced?

What I like and think will work most for mustachians is that it apparently won't play the usual BS credit card company games and it gives you all the numbers up front on what gets charged in a manner that's easily trackable with an easy interface.  No telling, however, if Apple can avoid playing its own games with you or the cash back is worthwhile though.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
